It’s 2003 All Over Again

Glenn Reynolds: “They’re not so much “antiwar” as just on the other side.”

Once an idiot, always an idiot. Some things change, the “warbloggers” remain the same.

    “not so much anti-war as Anti-American” is what he actually said.

    Someone reviewing his book called him a ‘Hippie”.

    Geez, that’s what the Republican right-wing tide has brought us;

    technonerd hippies who champion the cause of war. Nice job.

    He later added the “on the other side” comment.

    If you support the violence of those who wage war against others, then you’re not “anti-war”. Che, Castro, Milosevic, and the Palestinians are not “anti-war”. They support violence just as much as those who support the war in Iraq.

    I don’t think it’s fair to take the extremists in the crowds as an example for everyone who marches against the war in Iraq, but there are definitely those who are “on the other side”.

    Calling people idiots? You’ve sunk low oliver. Maybe you two should compare college degrees. OOps!

    Honestly, no one showed up except for the crazies. That’s your party. Enjoy.

  4. Your argument about college degrees conferring intelligence on people would hold a lot more water if George W. Bush wasn’t a Yale alumnus.

    Instapollyanna seems to suspend his self-ascribed Libertarian principles to overlook the trillion dollar price tag for the Iraq invasion/occupation/quagmire.

    Those giggling at protesters: umm…. do y’alll *read* O-Dub often?

    He hates protests. Disdains protesters. Thinks they’re waste of time and look silly. I have to agree. Diehard Amish and Socialist Workers Party types on the march don’t inspire fear in the ruling class. They look impotent and meaningless.

    Protests were effective when masses of marchers *scared the shit* out of the ruling class– before riot control technology and tactics and communication technology, in the days when any sufficiently large crowd could turn into a revolutionary mob. Basically: up until the 1970’s. Not so anymore.

    Nowadays the only thing that talks is money. Don’t bother going to a protest. Instead, work an extra job, and send your paycheck to insurgent progressive candidates and to MoveOn and DFA. Or volunteer on a campaign. This is 2006 for chrissakes, torches and pitchforks don’t cut it anymore.
