Dem Database

I’m familiar somewhat with the ideas that are going into building this database of databases for progressive voter outreach, but I have no idea why folks at the DNC are concerned about it. The lists the party has – and especially the state parties – are legendarily woeful, and if it takes a group who’s sole reason for being is a good, clean voter list – it helps all around. The goal here is electing people, not power plays. From what little I know about the project, it’s one of the few progressive developments I’m really excited about.

One of the “controversies” about this is that the data collection organization will be a private company, but my source on this explained to me months ago why that is — and it’s not part of Hillary Clinton’s Evil Plan ™ and it makes perfect sense, but that’s what they’ll write anyway (witness the intrigue here in Captain Queeg Ed’s “analysis” of the story that is so removed from the truth its a gas).

Damned if I know why its on the front page of the Post, other than the fact that they and the NY Times need to fill their daily quota of “Democrats are fighting” stories. It’s like the RNC memos go right to the front page.

I hate you Oliver. I followed the link to Captain Ed and found yet another Chris Muir cartoon that has no punchline. Except this time, the characters keeping changing their size and actually ask the reader to supply the punchline.

I think you should run a contest.

Here’s a cartoon printed in the University of Saskatchewan’s newspaper that got the editor fired. In the name of free speech, I think all bloggers should reprint this cartoon. Especially those bloggers that felt that all newspapers should print the cartoons offensive to Islam. This cartoon is especially offensive, not just to Christians but to Capitalists and thus it is even more important that bloggers reprint it.

Put the shoe on the other foot. If John McCain had hired Ed Gillespie to build a database (and Scaife to fund it) outside the purview of Mehlman and the RNC, you’d be posting for weeks about how Republicans are divided.

Actually I believe (per Neal Boortz) that Repulbicans have already been doing some variation of this (gathering voter data).
I don’t care. They can gather data on me till the cows come home and I’m going to still vote independently – based on my own thoughts and values.

One party’s database is another party’s enemies list.

Dugger, you have to get in touch with Chris Muir. You are comedy gold.
