Our Idiot Lame Duck President

Gives a speech about Iraq today, as chaos reigns, and its the same old rhetoric – not one deviation from the message that no longer resonates outside of the conservative cult.

About The Republican War On Women’s Rights

1:02 am EST February 24th, 2006 | Democrats | 91 Comments

This will be an intriguing question that should be asked in the 2008 election: Do you support the imprisonment of doctors for up to five years for the alleged “crime” of performing an abortion, as South Dakota’s legislature demands?

Because I’m pretty sure every possible Democratic nominee (Clinton, Edwards, Warner, etc.) could answer that question in the negative and not lose any support, whereas I can’t think of a Republican (Allen, McCain, Frist, etc.) who wouldn’t lose support from the base or from moderate voters depending on how they answered.

Most sane people don’t believe in locking up doctors for performing medical procedures.

Off Their Rockers

The Washington Post’s editorial page is as wrong today as they were when they were cheerleading Bush’s war in Iraq. Interestingly they take up the call of Deputy Defense Secretary Gordon R. England, who decided to brand folks opposed to giving our port security away as traitors.

For me, the Post is the leading paper in America today, but they’d be much further along if they introduced some common sense to their editorial board.

Interestingly the editorial is titled “How To Lose Friends”. I’d argue one way to “lose friends” would be to have them blown up by a terrorist who smuggled his weapon in through our ports.

The Cult Is Confused

Cultishness on display! Get yer tickets, right here. Ian claims that Jack Cafferty is lying when he says Bush has spinning the deal to outsource our ports. Of course, Ian doesn’t have to believe the facts at hands that prove that the administration has been spinning like a top, he can even look to a well known provider of conservative facts that comes to the same conclusion that Cafferty has.

Unless the liberals got to Michelle Malkin. Quick everyone, grab your tinfoil hats.

The Conservative Cultists Get More Deranged

11:02 pm EST February 23rd, 2006 | News | 1 Comment

Look, I know the cult is currently in search of a new guru (him? or him?) as 43 slides into irrelevance, but that’s no excuse for the cultists to get even loonier than usual. Case in point, Brent Bozell’s Newsbusters seems very upset that John Murtha was interviewed on CBS Evening News. Surely, this is the evil CBS once again flying their liberal colors high by interviewing only Murtha, and sharing his point of view with their viewers, right?

No, even Newsbuster’s resident bias pimpologists acknowledge that

After presenting the administration’s view that Iraq is not falling into civil war, CBS White House correspondent Jim Axelrod showcased how, over still shots of Murtha, in uniform, getting a medal and in Iraq: Democratic Congressman John Murtha, a former Marine colonel who’s among the most outspoken critics of the war, says the administration is misjudging.”

So you mean CBS gave the White House first say… then showcased an opposing viewpoint?

THOSE BASTARDS!

HOW DARE THEY!

DO THEY NOT UNDERSTAND THAT THERE IS ONLY ONE REALITY FORMED BY OUR DEAR LEADER?

HELTER SKELTER, MAN! HELTER FREAKING SKELTER!

Ann Coulter Turns Into A Black Man

1:02 pm EST February 23rd, 2006 | Politics | 18 Comments

Ann Coulter was shooting off her mouth in Kalamazoo – and stepped in it.

Coulter drew gasps from the crowd when, asked by an African-American audience member how minorities could be drawn to the Republican party, she said: “It’s very hard to be a conservative black. I know what you go through.”

I don’t know about you, but when I see Ann Coulter my first thought is “black man”. (thanks to reader John, who sent this my way)

Parents Fight Back

11:02 am EST February 23rd, 2006 | Politics | 20 Comments

Upper St. Clair parents are not about to let the conservative attack on their children’s education go softly into the night.

Some are looking into a recall of the majority, and an ad hoc committee is raising money for possible litigation. Some parents have even talked about starting an IB charter school. And students are pondering how to replace a program they think has no equal in the district.

“If there is one thing on which all agree,” said Linda T. Ambroso, spokesperson for the committee, “it’s to not let the matter rest.

“There are all kinds of ideas bubbling around,” she said. “Our next stop is to organize these ideas into effective action.”

That action starts at tonight’s 7 p.m. planning meeting in the high school cafeteria.

They’ve started a website at KeepIB.org

If It Walks Like A Lame Duck…

Bush: No need to worry about port security

President Bush on Thursday defended his administration’s decision to allow a company from an Arab country to operate six major U.S. ports, saying, “People don’t need to worry about security.”

“This deal wouldn’t go forward if we were concerned about the security of the United States of America,” Bush told reporters during a Cabinet meeting.

When will he realize that lame duck presidents with 40% approval ratings don’t get the luxury of saying “trust me”?
