Jamaican Election
Tweet
My mother, who is very active in Jamaican politics, was quite excited this weekend as Jamaica now has its first female prime minister…

Me, too!
Black
Female
Leader of the country
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?
Hehe
Frankly Frankie, I think Condi would be a great President. She is the embodiment of the American dream, and how great would it be for the country to finally have a female President and to finally have a black President, rolled into one? I don’t see why you’d support her, though, considering she is pro-choice, and probably has some other liberal social views.
Unfortunately, she does suffer from one fatal flaw: she has been tainted by Bush. Come 2008, anyone associated with this President will be radioactive.
Too bad for Condi. She seems so sweet.
Some in the GOP want Dr Rice to run for President in 2008, but her real fatal flaw is that she’s never run for elective office before. She’s great on foreign policy, but how will she handle questions on the budget, on economics, on mass transit, on crime, one whatever issues happen to be big in 2008?
The only woman who has any chance to sit in the Oval Office is Hillary Clinton. Ambivalent about her I have sometimes been. I am, however, resigned to her candidacy and eventual Administration. Oliver, how does your Mom view Hillary? Does she believe Portia and Hillary share any traits?
Hey, Frank, what’s the percentage of blacks in Jamaica (90%)? What was the race of the last few Jamaican prime ministers (black)? It ain’t exactly the same situation as ours.
The Rice candidacy is a dream of a few Republicans that will never come to be, and if she decides to run, she’ll be creamed in the GOP primaries.
My Mom would love a woman to be president of the US, but let’s just say that as far as ideology goes, Hillary would be a hardcore right-winger in Jamaica.
Rice is also single. Only one President, James Buchanan, was single. Considering the “marriage” edge to Republicans, how would Rice take advantage of that demographic?
Elrod…
Maybe she could marry a white man…that would take care of the ‘single’ issue, and also shore up support among people leary of a black woman. Get Rove on the phone.
Yea, interracial marriages go over big with the GOP base.
