Trouble ahoy for the S.S. Michael Steele
The man hired to run Maryland Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele’s campaign for U.S. Senate has resigned, an internal move disclosed for the first time yesterday in the aftermath of an off-balance week for the Republican candidate.
Campaign manager Graham M. Shafer made a quiet exit earlier this month, citing family obligations, a campaign spokesman confirmed yesterday. His departure highlighted a growing tug within the Steele campaign between the candidate’s Washington advisers and his coterie of longtime loyalists from Maryland, of which Shafer was one.
It looks like the Washington Republicans want Steele to be a black right-winger to help the national party’s futile attempt to sell itself to black America, but Steele knows he’s already too far to the right for Maryland… and the stem cell craziness he spouted didn’t help.
I love that talking about what he did is “smearing” Steele. And the Ohio race has never really interested me (I live in MD, not OH).
I think that the Paul Hackett controversy over in Ohio is much more interesting than Oliver’s attempts to smear Michael Steele. I also find it interesting that Oliver has nothing to say about a behind-the-scenes take-down job engineered at the highest levels of Democrat leadership. After all, Hackett was a big favorite with liberal bloggers.
The fact that Mother Jones magazine (not exactly a bastion of the vast right-wingnut conspiracy) had the moxy to report the story should also certainly count for something.
Ah. Nice day for a sail.
Typical wingnut misdirection- Mike, if you think it is more interesting, post it on your own blog.
The question is if Steele will get more votes than fellow Maryland black wingnut Alan Keyes did against Obama. There can’t be that many people in Garrett County, can there?
Oliver why do you hate conservative blacks? Are they traitors to their race or just intelligent because they made the right decision rather than the real lackeys to Dems?
OT, But I thought you’d enjoy this, Oliver
