Every single story major media outlet about firearms is run from the view point of and most even have quotes from The Brady Foundation and the Violence Policy Center (see the Cheney story as an fine example of that). The percentage of media reports that have pro-firearm quotes from the likes of the NRA or the GOA are so minimal as to be surprising when it is seen.
