I disagree… There would not have been any noticeable difference in the outcome, regardless of when the story came out. The almighty press wouldn’t have been so ticked off because they weren’t told sooner.This story will last until something else comes along.

In all honesty, I think that the Veep was worried about yet more bad press coverage and tried to do damage control. Unfortunately for him, it drew even more bad press. Had he come out the first day speaking about this, I don’t think that it would have been a big issue, mild heart attack notwithstanding.

Is it at all possible that the officer shoulder-checked the van deliberately to create a story?

Not only would Hector McFarmer s story not have been slowly leaked, it would have likely never been reported outside of his local community,

What’s more, if old McFarmer had a little thing going with the hired help, that wouldn’t get much attention either. But then, McFarmer isn’t in the White House.

Why not “Smith’s Law”? The syndrome in which a person of one political persuasion attempts to justify one of his fellow party member s bad behavior with a quasi-related indiscretion by someone of another (rival) party.

One small problem: According to Godwin’s Law, the thread should end. What happens when when “Smith’s Law” is violated? That’s usually when the fun begins.

Anywhoo, I’m willing to spread it around.

Delayed the release of information? It was known about and reported on within 18 hours.

Not only would Hector McFarmer’s story not have been slowly leaked, it would have likely never been reported outside of his local community, given the fact that law enforcement considered it to be an accident.

The real question here is: Why did the officer assault the van?
“…but only after the police officer threw his shoulder into the van while banging on its side did the vehicle come to a halt…”
So, according the Washington Times, the van didnt hit the officer, the officer hit the van–hmmmm……wonder if he left scratches….
I don’t want to question the judgement of a law enforcement officer, but I am pretty sure that checking a van is not a good idea

Dkelsmith : I agree that each incident should stand on its own. If that were to be the case, then I would have expected that Senator Clinton should have immediately held a press conference, with several follow ups, to address why her Secret Service detail ran a checkpoint at an airport and struck a uniformed police officer.

I wouldn’t necessarily agree with that at all. I don’t think that Cheney is required to have a press conference about the incident he is involved in. He became beholden to answer questions after it was obvious that “somebody” delayed the release of information about this event to the press. Had Dick Cheney been Hector McFarmer, the news would not have been nationwide, but it would not have been “slowly leaked”.

Thanks OW. Good catch by those guys. Ms Clinton was in charge of that car that injured a cop. I guess this ruins her chance to be president. Hope 60 Minutes does an interview with the cop’s family so we can see the weeping wife and his ruin of a life – thanks literally to the Democratic machine.

I am familiar with what “Godwin’s Law” is, but there must be a name for the syndrome in which a person of one political persuasion attempts to justify one of his fellow party member’s bad behavior with a quasi-related indiscretion by someone of another (rival) party. My party has been guilty of this as well, at times as well.

1. Was Hillary driving?
2. Did she leak the story to a friend at a local paper to deliberately curtail the exposure?
3. Were there any lingering side effects besides a bruised shoulder?

If you have to concede two or more “NO” votes out of three questions, your argument may be fundamentally flawed.
