Ground covered with snow here in Maryland, and we just got back power. Interesting…

Now that you have your power back, here are some highlights from the lingerie bowl. (NSFW)

  2. Lived in S. Florida for 10 years. I’ll take the tons of snow over 99 degree weather.

I’m with you Oliver. I am in Phoenix. It’s much easier to throw a sweater on than it is to cool off after a 1/4 mile trek from parking lot to desk in 110 degrees.

I would love some snow right now.

you get what you deserve for trying to build a city in the desert.

Oh, I agree entirely. The only reason Phoenix can exist at all is due to the nations largest nuclear reactor, 45 miles out of town. Anything ever happens to that for an extended period of time, and Phoenix will die (along with many of its residents). And seriously, I very much hope there are no nuke accidents or flu outbreaks or biological or chemical accidents, because there are exactly three roads out of town, one to LA, one to Tucson, and one to Flagstaff and they are always overwhelmed with traffic on any holiday weekend.

I am forced to be out here, but would pretty much rather be ANY place else. Phoenix is the land of strip malls, and over operated women and extremely heavy teens (since the mall and the food zoo is the only place they can go during the hot months.)

There is no diversity, there are no good restaurants, the university is mediocre and not near the center of town, there are few things to see or do, and absolutely all getaways pretty much require an airplane ticket — expensive. Phoenix is great if you like hummers and can afford the best cars, restaurants, and football seats.

Otherwise it is an absolute wasteland.

that’s “over operated on women” meaning these stick figures with enormous plastic boobs and brown leather skin that would do a holstein proud.

Lovely article about our nuke plant in what we consider to be a paper.

” Palo Verde has a lower performance rating than all but two of 65 nuclear plants nationwide, according to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, a federal oversight agency. The agency grades nuclear plants on safety and overall performance. Palo Verde is the only U.S. nuclear plant cited last year for a “yellow” safety violation. Yellow is the second-most serious level of violation based on a single problem; no plant was cited last year for a “red” violation. Because of this violation, the NRC has established a much tougher inspection schedule to make sure APS fixes the problems.
