Steele Also Compared Stem Cell Research To Slavery
Tweet
I’m just hearing this bit of Steele’s gigantic mistake, which is now on the AP
Steele made the original comment Thursday during a speech before the Baltimore Jewish Council. Someone there asked him about stem-cell research. He told the small gathering that Jews, “Know what happens when people decide to experiment on human beings.”
Steele, who is black, added, “I know that as well in my community, out of our experience with slavery.”
Stem cell research, which can save lives, is like nazism and slavery? I know Steele has to get down on his knees for the far right, but he’s demonstrating the kind of extremism that doesnt play in most of America, much less a progressive state like Maryland.

Unfortunately, my only impression of Steele was when he joined
the discussion panel on “Real Time’.
The best thing I can say is his IQ seems to border on triple digits.
He must think ‘cell’ means a compartment, like a jail cell.
Locking up stems is akin to enslavimng them, LMAO!
Oliver, while I agree, this was a stupid comment, you are a hypocrite for not sharing this outrage over Hillary Clinton’s remark.
Also I am outraged that they noted “Steele, who is black”. Who is black?!?!? Is that neccessary? Racists.
Perhaps because Sen. Clinton was accurately describing the atmosphere of the House of Representatives while Steele was comparing life-giving research to nazism and slavery.
“Stem cell research, which can save lives, is like nazism and slavery?”
Did he really say that? Wow! Reminds me of that incredibly stupid remark I read some place on the Internet the other day referring to us all being Exxon’s slaves. Can’t remember who let that corker lose. You remember, OW?
Dugger
Oliver, I agree with you that Steele’s remarks were over the top. Tthat kind of talk is pretty stupid and will probably lose him a few votes.
But I’d love for you to elaborate on this- “Sen. Clinton was accurately describing the atmosphere of the House of Representatives”
Really? How so? Give us some examples of how the way the House of Representatives is run today compares to the type of plantation that Senator Clinton must have been referring to.
I can’t imagine she was talking about any kind of plantation other than the type where our ancestors were held in bondage, forced labor, and other gross indignities. The kind of place my great-grandfather escaped from near the end of the Civil War.
C’mon Oliver. Enlighten me. How exactly do they compare. What are the Democratic talking points on that?
There’s no talking points, there are facts. The GOP runs the House like masters of the land, allowing no dissent or even the introduction of dissent. Minority views are not allowed to be expressed, the rules are manipulated in favor of the masters, etc.
Dugger: are we or aren’t we slaves to oil? Before we answer, wave to the 150,000 Americans in Iraq. I also think its hilarious you think that Some Guy with a Website (me) and a candidate for the U.S. Senate are supposed to be on the same page rhetorically.
Man you are right about that brother Ollie!
I haven’t heard a word of dissent from the democrats since ChimpyMcBushHallliburtonHitler took office! They have muzzled those Dems no better than the slaves in the Old South. Hell, it is like the Holocaust up there…..!
Oh wait, no it isn’t….the dems are popping off on all sorts of subjects continually, on TV, on the floor of the House, in Senate Committees…
Ollie, do you just blindly repeat the talking points without thinking or what?
The Dems are not aggresive enough in getting media coverage, but the few that are just don’t get any meaningful access to the microphone.
Oliver- I normally try to remain civil while playing here in your sandbox, but you have just proven to me that you are nothing but a shill with absolutely no sense of history or perspective and care about nothing other than your precious Democratic Party.
Not that I didn’t already know that- but there was a time when you actually used your mind and thought about what you said with a little more introspection. Now it’s say whatever you can to be “MR.DEMOCRAT.” Spit out whatever BS that your boss and the DNC press releases tell you to. It’s pathetic.
Rather that take the opportunity to say that perhaps the House of Representatives and plantation rhetoric may just also be a bit over the top, you use Hillary’s own spin on her stupid pandering statement and the same bullshit that every other SFB lefty says about it and pass that off as a legitimate statement.
When Republicans start bringing in Democrats in shackles, making them pick cotton in the fields 19 hours a day, beating them mercilessly, and cutting off their per diem and forcing them to eat pig intestines, neckbones, and spoiled leftovers, then I’ll give the plantation imagery a second look.
OW, Correct if I’m wrong. Nobody puts a gun to your head and makes you buy a car and then makes you fill it with gas. Thats not happening down here in Georgia. Likewise, it was my understanding that the slaves weren’t slaves – voluntarily. They were forced into bondage. So no offense, but it was a crummy analogy.
Dugger
Brilliant Cheetos. I guess all Naderites and independent party members are not salves to oil, then, Just Rs and Ds.
And I guess since we wear clothes with cotton, we are slaves to cotton farmers. WE eat so we are slves to farmers. Christ, I’m a slave to that left wing rag the AJC. I’m a slave to an obscure distillary on the Isle of Skye. etc
