If I understand the MyDD post correctly, there was nothing factually wrong in the AP article, but it left out important information making any accusations connecting Reid and Abramoff clients irrelevant to the current scandal.
OW calls this a “swiftboating.”
That leaves me to wonder:
1) Does this mean OW believed the swiftboat accusations against Kerry were factually correct but incomplete and irrelevant?
2) Does OW believe the AP is lying about Reid’s record?
In other words, can “swiftboating” be expanded to include factual statements made by the press?
“Not One Dime”, eh? Dems are their own worst enemy.
I guess the attack on DeLay is swiftboating too.
This is, so far, a purely Republican scandal.
Swiftboating continues.
Even though they never allege that in the article, but rather that he met with clients associated with Abramoff’s firm. They just don’t care about the truth anymore.
SaveFarris,
Yes. What part of “Not One Dime” don’t you understand? Did you read the article? The Democrats have not received one damn dime from Abramoff.
Clever. Technically, it’s not “Just One Dime”. It’s 680,000 of them.
SF,
You’re failure to comprehend this story is staggering. Keyword: “Clients”
Not one dime from confessed criminal Abramoff. Reid NEVER met with Abramoff. Reid’s office NEVER met with Abramoff.
Try again. Still a purely Republican scandal.
Just plain irresponsible reporting or blatant shilling for the GOP? You decide.
MSNBC has since retracted the lie and replaced the headline with only the slightly less controversial and misleading headline “Top Democrat Reid aided Abramoff clients”, which, given the focus of the article, isn’t true either with regards to the Marianas case.
There is only one thing that Democrats do better than stab Republicans in the back, and that’s shoot themselves in the foot.
Whistling past the graveyard, boys?
Curmudgeon
Purely republican=oxymoron
I think “Swiftboating” is a perfectly valid term to use here. After all, the Swifties’ claims were almost entirely validated, and Kerry had to withdraw a lot of his claims about his service — such as the “Christmas in Cambodia” load of crap.
That reminds me… how long has it been since Kerry promised Tim Russert he’d release his military records? A year or so? Kind of like Howard Dean kept a lot of his gubernatorial papers sealed up from public scrutiny.

None of this will matter when “the pictures” come out. The media will have a ball with that one. Cant wait to see how the defenders of bush handle that one.
“Whah, Whah, left-wing bias! Whah, Whah, liberal media!”
