Lessons On Being Black

Right winger Mary Matalin adds to the chorus of white conservatives who are explaining to black people how exactly they should be black. Thanks, Mary, couldn’t do it without you! Stay strong, soul sista.

I think you’re looking at this all wrong, O-Dub. Consider the entrepreneurial possibilities here: You could open up a consulting shop teaching patronizing white racist fascist assholes how to be better patronizing white racist fascist assholes. God KNOWS the market is there ….

So, criticizing the President makes one a racist against whites? Learn something new everyday.

By the way, white people, I suggest you find another torch bearer for the race. I hear Carrot Top is available.

And this is different than “What’s the Matter with Kansas?” how, exactly?

Interesting question. Let’s take a look, shall we?

Matalin criticizes black people for aligning themselves politically with people who support their interests.

In “What’s the Matter with Kansas,” the author questions why white people in the midwest align themselves politically with people who don’t support their interests.

    Whadya know? We’re already done.

Supports our interests or panders to us with promises and appearances in a few black churches during election years and high profile events (Hillary)?

Matalin had it right- when we allign ourselves with one party and that party falters, well I guess then it just sucks to be us.

But I suppose the facts don’t matter. You know- homeownership at an all time high, shrinking achievement gap, etc. (not that I give all the credit to this administration- I don’t. But I do give some.

You’d think that when Democrats held every branch of Government during that Carter years that we would have solved everything anyway.

You know what ticks me off? First, why is this a subject for Media Matters? There’s no bias here. She was answering questions in an interview.
I can see why you brought it up. You’re the nation’s leading expert on the black man.
My other problem is this: Take this statement, and assign it to any voive, any sex, race, creed, or gender, and I think it’s still true:

I mean, you know, I think these civil rights leaders are nothing more than racists. And they’re keeping constituency, they’re keeping their neighborhoods and their African-American brothers enslaved…

Good grief! I used to simply find Mary entertaining. Excuse me if, as another middle class white woman, I don’t think either one of us (meaning Mary and me) have enough experience as black people to make that sort of determination. Unless, of course, Mary is channeling Sojourner Truth.

I’m confused here… Is Ms Matalin describing secret rituals lnown only to Afro – Americans? Is she claiming to read minds? As far as I’m concerned, what she said is public knowledge. You may disagree, but many commentators, black and white, feel the same way.

In other words, where’s the beef?

Show your work to the teacher, Frankie. MediaMatters does.

  10. Quaker in a Basement says:

What happened to all those folks who were clucking about Hillary saying “plantation” last week?

  11. Frank_D says:

ahem: What are you talking about. And did you learn your manners from JadeGold?

  12. rainlion says:

Frank, the best you can do is dredge up a 3 year old article about McWorter… and this somehow backs up Matlins comments?

    LOL

Well, I thought the most important thing was that the source be black, isn’t it?
After all, I have to be black to know anything about them , don’t I?
