But that’s a joke for the media. Anyone else with suggestions of what should be done to Ann Coulter, you know, as a joke for the media?

  1. Tom says:

Wouldn’t it be funny if Ann were brutally raped and murdered by a gang of swarthy men? I sure would laugh laugh laugh.

  2. factcheck says:

How about we execute Anne as a traitor, you know, just to show conservatives that it could be done. That’s just a little joke for the media, btw.

  3. Can you fucking IMAGINE the uproar if anyone…any single person on the left – even a blogger – said something like, “Someone should put rat poison in Sam Alito’s pasta fasul.”

Why the hell is she still allowed a voice in any forum?

  4. SaveFarris says:

    Anne? Not a smart move.

PS. Not a funny one either. If you have to tell them it’s a joke…

  5. Quaker in a Basement says:

You know what would really bring Coulter misery? If the media ignored her.

  6. JSA says:

I’m reminded of a line from Citizen Kane. “Making a lot of money is easy, if all you want to do is make a lot of money.” I’m sure she’s laughing all the way to the bank. Some of us would like to maintain our dignity, too. Unless she really believes the stuff she says; that’s just scary.

  7. Brandon says:

As a Conservative, I’ve never really understood her allure.

This is probably one of the biggest reasons why?

“Can you fucking IMAGINE the uproar if anyone& any single person on the left – even a blogger – said something like, Someone should put rat poison in Sam Alito s pasta fasul. ”

Or like when Randi Rhodes had a skit on her show where President Bush was shot?

Yeah, I know what you mean.

  8. ian says:

Yes, because only Republicans make outrageous statements.

  9. nawoods says:

Ann Coulter sucks, but I still think she’s hot!

  10. Quaker in a Basement says:

PS. Not a funny one either. If you have to tell them it s a joke&

What if you’re just pretending that you think the media needs an explanation?

    Two-fer!

You get to propose violence to a Supreme Court justice and insult the media at the same time.

  11. factcheck says:

Just watch out for the Adam’s Apple!

  12. Brandon says:

    No penalty?

I’d say she’s getting rightly skewered for her remarks by plenty of news media outlets.

  13. mjb says:

Hey, look, it’s the false equivalence game again! Randi Rhodes said one thing, totally retracted it and apologized the next day and has not said anything like that again. In the one-inch-deep world of the right I guess that means that Coulter’s repeated, unashamed “jokes” are the same. Point to a prominent liberal commentator who says Coulter-esque things regularly and is repeatedly invited back to comment, not just on Faux, but on every news channel out there. THANKS.

  14. nawoods says:

Yeah, she could stand to gain a little weight.

  15. No, only Republicans make outrageous statements and then repeat them again and again and again with no penalty from the media.

  16. Quaker in a Basement says:

Or like when Randi Rhodes had a skit on her show where President Bush was shot?

Was that before or after Ms. Rhodes was on the cover of Time magazine?

  17. spitar1 says:

Oliver, how about you take this thread down and never acknowledge anything she says in the future? If no one pays any attention to her she’ll go away like a bad sitcom.

  18. Brandon,

Or like when Randi Rhodes had a skit on her show where President Bush was shot?

She apologized for that the very next day, saying :

“This was just a stupid, stupid bit!” exclaimed Randi Rhodes on yesterday’s broadcast on the Air America network. “But, if it crossed the line, then certainly, there must be punishment, and if there is, I want to be punished so that I can actually say ‘Equal justice under law.’ Anybody that has stepped over this line of law needs to be prosecuted, including me.”

Wake me when Ann, Hannity, Rush, Severin, Chris Matthews, Scarbourough, Rove, Bush, Cheney, Brownie, et al. say anything similiar. Party of civility and responsibility my ass.

  19. ian says:

    O’Dub

    Pat Robertson ….

  20. Frank_D says:

“… with no penalty from the media.”

    And that penalty might be?

  21. Not getting invited to be a commentator or to be a cover person at the drop of the hat by outlet after outlet.

  22. ian says:

The reason why Oliver is upset over this is because Coulter is white and a conservative.

  23. ian says:

    Malcolm XXL,

Coulter is an opinion columnist, she says stuff like this all the time, it’s not new. But that doesn’t matter. Why don’t you get upset with Michael Oleskar, who says dumb stuff all the time?

Where was the outrage with Hillary Clinton? Harry Belafonte? That’s right, you had none.

    Hillary is a Senator.
    Belafonte is as famous singer.

  24. Rounds77 says:

Wouldn’t we all like to live in a world where we can say anything we like, no matter how vulgar or vicious, and be considered representatives of morality? Republicans are so lucky to live in this world. And they make it very real to themselves through a perpetuation of denials and false explanations.

  25. Brandon says:

“Not getting invited to be a commentator or to be a cover person at the drop of the hat by outlet after outlet.”

So in other words, you want them censored.

Uhh, aren’t progressives supposed to be for freedom of thought? Besides, I’d think giving hacks like Coulter more face time would actually do more damage to the causes she espoues because the public will see her face and say ‘Hey, didn’t she joke about poisoning John Paul Stevens?’

Bad PR like that tends to damage your cause.

  26. Ann Coulter said something broaching on illegal; further, it was stupid (with two o’s) thing to say. That’s not an “opinion.” It’s a simple insult. She said it to offend and we take offense.

I take umbrage at what she says and ignore her when I can.

  27. frameone says:

“Why don t you get upset with Michael Oleskar, who says dumb stuff all the time?”

Classic. Who the hell is Michael Oleskar? If someone has to Google the reference, Ian, it ain’t equivalent.

As for Clinton, plantation references have been a standard of Republican rhetoric for years. Gingrich in 1994:

“I clearly fascinate them,” Gingrich said of the Democrats. “I’m much more intense, much more persistent, much more willing to take risks to get it done. Since they think it is their job to run the plantation, it shocks them that I’m actually willing to lead the slave rebellion.”

or how about this gem from Novak in 2003:

“Blacks are not permitted to leave the liberal plantation to be a conservative, like Janice Rogers Brown.”

Finally, Belafonte. famous singer. Need I say more?

Ann Coulter sucks, but I still think she s hot!

We’re all going to assume, from your post, you are aware “she” has an Adam’s apple…right? Since “she” wanted to see Murtha’s medical records so so badly . . . we told her that “if she shows hers about that Adam’s apple that glunks up and down …… he’ll show his”

Here is the, up to the moment, online poll results on AOL’s news site 1/27/06

How would you rate Bush’s performance?
    Poor 62%
    Excellent 17%
    Good 14%
    Fair 7%
    Total Votes: 71,889

    http://articles.news.aol.com/news/article.adp?id=20060126110009990028&ncid=NWS00010000000001

Considering the fact that most AOL members are not in the “Blue States” those numbers are promising!

  29. Zappa says:

Anne C – is so hot; but if you get the chance to get down with her, don’t expect the reach around.
That was a joke BTW -

  30. ian says:

“Considering the fact that most AOL members are not in the Blue States those numbers are promising!”

Do you have a statistic on that?

That poll you just sent is useless, it’s almost as useless as me going out side and randomly polling people. There is a reason why people listen Gallup, etc.

  31. Lisa and Lucy says:

Hi. We’ve been reading the site for a bit over a year now and finally had to log in to comment on this one (at the little one’s request nonetheless). We hate Ann Coulter. We hate everything about her. She is an anorexic lying blowhard who is a disgrace to womankind as well as her political party (and Lucy insists that I add that her books are horrible, not to mention mostly inaccurate). She feeds on the attentions the media pays her for her inflammitory comments like a dog salivating over a bone – therefore appropriate punishment would certainly be a muzzle and a very small kennel for all eternity – or at least until she gets put down (we’re fairly certain no one would adopt a starved, blonde, incessantly barking, rabid chihuahua). Lucy says the tank is far to polite and quick for someone so hateful and nasty. Unfortunately, since the kennel idea could be considered cruel and inhumane we’d settle for the media shutting her out completely, which would probably deflate her ego to the point of a mass implosion. Also – “Oliver, you are all that and a bag of chips” – quote from a very little fan who wants to grow up to be POTUS. OK. Rant over. Thanks.

  32. vikingsnut says:

The next intelligent thing Anne says will be the first. As for her “hotness”, it just doesn’t get that dark. Not in the country on a cloudy night…

  33. ian says:

Lisa and Lucy, I bet you’re a feminist. Am I right, or am I right?

vikingsnut, the next intelligent thing you say will hopefully be spelling Coulter’s first name correctly.

  34. Lisa and Lucy says:

In point of fact Sir, no neither of us are that we’re aware of – one of us is a traditional housewife and mom and the other is a brilliant and very politically-geared gradeschooler. One doesn’t have to be a femenist, a democrat, a genius, or even a grown-up to realize that an empty-headed twit with a big mouth is making every intelligent female and Republican look bad. What precisely does it take to be a femenist these days? It seems like such an outdated term, especially since it was always used by the Republicans to define women throughout history who didn’t do the wife and mom to a T thing. Technically, a skinny twit who spends more time writing inaccurate books and making inflammitory comments on television and less time with family could be considered a femenist couldn’t she? Hmmmmm….

  35. ian says:

Well for one, you can start by spelling feminist correctly.

Secondly, if you are going to bash a book, shouldn’t you read it first? Oh I forgot, liberals don’t like hearing others opinions, they just like being loudmouths.

  36. Lisa and Lucy says:

I apologize for the spelling error – it’s an archaic term that we don’t use here, therefore I don’t have cause to spell it often. My bad.
And you are mistaken – I have read Treason (an entire book devoted to the “fact” that even though McCarthy was a bigot, a sexist, a homophobe, a warmonger, an extortionist, and a liar he was “still right” makes me chuckle). We suffer her regular column studiously as well as those of O’Reilly, Buchanan, Limbaugh, Malkin, etc. I have every right to bash her – she’s vile. Her arguments are hollow. Her “facts” are oftentimes erroneous (I thought I knew “they sent troops”). She insults the few friends our country has when they don’t 100% roll over and kiss her President’s arse (the infamous bit about rolling over and crushing Canada and absolutely everything she’s said about France). Her column attacking Harriet Miers was acidic and vicious to say the least – not saying HM deserved the noimination – she didn’t – but there is no need to be as bloodthirsty as Coulter is, especially to her own party. She doesn’t do it out of any conviction – she does it out of a need for attention – and the media allows it, even feeds her megalomania.
Schlafly is a conservative Republican female icon. She is consistent, she is well-written, and she has a VALID POINT without the drama – though I don’t agree with her most of the time she presents her case well. Ann Coulter is a female Bill O’Rielly (another embarrasment to conservatism). She is to polotics what Howard Stern is to radio, though I’d wager Howard wouldn’t be nearly as depressing in a skirt – honestly if she stood sideways and stuck out her tongue she’d look like a zipper.
One thing I do have to say for her – the cover story of TIME had a wonderful shot of her. Of course, note that it was her LEGS that were most prominent, shot upward like some type of model rather than an intellectual. Even they knew that to put her on the cover in any style but that of a pin-up would do them ill and frankly even then her scarecrow figure didn’t look good.
And by the way you are 0 for 2. Not liberals or feminists.

  37. vikingsnut says:

Ian, I am sooo sorry I didn’t spell that stupid (rhymes with runt)’s name correctly, we are all so lucky to have you as the personal spell check on this site.

“if you are going to bash a book, shouldn t you read it first? Oh I forgot, liberals don t like hearing others opinions, they just like being loudmouths.” Hmm, that could apply to just about every fundamentalist I have ever met.
I’ve never been to the sewer, but I know that it stinks. MORON: did I spell that right?

  38. ian says:

Lisa and/or Lucy, I thought you were referring to Kate’s book for a moment.

I wouldn’t call McCarthy a war monger, he hated the military, if you are going to bash some one, make sure you know what they stand for.

As extreme as McCarthy was, he was on the right track. But I think we have more of a threat of a red scare today than we had 50 years ago. With people like liberals, I wouldn’t be surprised if this country eventually falls to communism.

  39. bryan says:

The red scare was a good thing? Sheesh
Someone suggested that coulter’s critics want her censored. I think people (of whatever persuasion) who tell lies, or misrepresent facts to become a lie should be CENSURED, preferably financially.

  40. Quaker in a Basement says:

As extreme as McCarthy was, he was on the right track.

Don’t you love it when wingnuts ‘fess up?

  41. (: Tom :) says:

AnnThraxx should get a nice envelope in the mail filled with some white powder. Then, after opening it and getting a little sniff, during her final days of pain and suffering, she should be repeatedly ravished by swarthy men, African Americans, Hispanics, feminist dykes, the staff of the New York Times, and representatives from every other group she has made fun of during her time on the national stage.

Of course, that’s just a joke for the media. Not nearly as vile and reprehensible as the comments about the evil Clenis, or Michael Moore, at FReeperville or Little Green Fascists every day, but still…

  42. Lisa and Lucy says:

Anyone who breeds or attempts to breed an illigitmate and unbased fear of a specific group of people into an entire nation through their national media is a warmonger. He certainly wasn’t breeding hatred and dissent to have an excuse for a luncheon, was he?
I also find it hard to believe that anyone who defends the Republican noisemakers or party in this day and age can take issue with Communism, or socialism in any form for that matter. The former party of “less government” has turned a 180 into the party of “we want to stick our long pointy noses into and invade every aspect of your life from birth to death”. The direction the Republicans have taken in every aspect is shameful as compared to what they once were.
