“You know I didn’t break the law, because, well, I keep saying so. Soy el rey. Viva Bush”
Anyone notice the jocularity from his post-election-I’m-gonna-privatize-social-security press conferences is gone? Yep, I did too.
You can’t convince me that this camera malfunction wasn’t God’s way of saying he doesn’t like ugly.

Perhaps if the reporters would listen to him the first time when he answers the question about Abramoff, they wouldn’t have to ask dumbass follow-up questions that really aren’t follow-ups at all.
At least he seemed to have allowed his morning coffee to take full effect
before the press conference.
I do love the quote however, “I’m gonna keep sayin’…er…uh…you know,
…what I just said”.

That is one of the greatest one liners I have ever witnessed!
Neither did any of the Democrats who accepted money from Abramoff’s clients I guess.
Do you guys get busy from all this spinning?
How is he breaking the law? I know that you liberals like catch phrases and talking points, but he has constitutional powers.
Re: Brandon
You should try listening to a daily press briefing, about 50% of the answers from McClellan have the words “I have already explained this” or “this was already said” in them.
Brandon,
Please explain to us how that’s the same thing as accepting money directly from Abramoff?
Are the tribes not allowed to donated to anyone?
The only clients of Jack Abramoff that donated money to Democrats, did so before they became his clients. The tribal governments that picked up Abramoff cut their donations by half to Democrats, and doubled them to Republicans.
Abramoff pushed his clients not to give money to Democrats. They did so against his wishes, not in favor of them. Abramoff did not direct anyone to give money to Democrats.
It’s a Republican scandal. Only. Pure and simple.

I’m with mikmik: I didn t not have economic relations with that man!

Huh? I’d be interested in your source for this. According to the WaPo:
Maybe it will turn out that “directed by” was not the correct term in some/many/all cases.
Thank you, JWG, for showing us all where the Captain’s sunshine comes out of.
So Captain, do you have any other fairy tales you’d like to spin?
I want to hear the one about how Patty Murray, my state Senator and ranking Democrat on that least three major committees became the ninth most contributed to person by Abramoff and his clients (after they hired him, BTW).
I especially like the part about how Indian tribes from the Southeastern part of the country contributed tens of thousands of dollars to re-elect a Senator from a state that is physically the furthest away from their home states (in the continental US)?
Do you know that one Captain? Because I’ve heard her tell it, but all she can say is that she cannot afford to give the money back so she won’t. Or maybe she said that she refused to score cheap points by being clean so she decided that staying dirty was better.
I wish I could tell you, but she who thinks that Osama bin Laden builds daycare centers has clammed up and refuses to speak on the matter any more.
Analogkid, et al;
“How many time must we tell you children not to spoil your appetites?”
The nuance between scalpel and sledgehammer may escape your
sensibilities, so let me say this one more time;
Only republicans are currently being investigated for QUID PRO QUO
donations. The scandal is not about donations per se.
It is about money and perks that are TIED TO SPECIFIC ACTS.
Unless you want to parse words and bandy your brand of semantic
pedantry just to argue, stop beating the skin on your hollow drums.
“but he has constitutional powers”
Did he get them from a cracker jack box? You’re almost done with high school, aren’t you? Did you sleep through history or social studies? You do know that the President doesn’t just get to wave a magical fairy wand, right?
Source please.
Name one dem who is under investigation,
Semanticleo, you better narrow that down to “illegal Abramoff contributions” or else someone will drag up a Democratic former E. Quogue town council member from the 70’s that has too many parking tickets, because, see, that is just as bad as giving away the public interest for a gourmet meal.
Fact…
I should know better.
