Why do our military commanders insist on giving aid and comfort to our enemies (based on the Republican definition of such things)?
The top U.S. commander in
Iraq acknowledged on Thursday that the U.S. Army was stretched but insisted forces here were capable of accomplishing their mission and any recommendation to reduce troops further would be dictated by the situation on the battlefield.
And yet the two guys in charge of dealing with the problem, Rumsfeld and Bush, don’t think there’s a problem at all. Yup, that’s leadership for you.
I don’t think that quote further strengthens your position in any way. We are at war. Of course the army is stretched. The difference between Murtha’s statements and yuor quote is this part:
“…but insisted forces here were capable of accomplishing their mission…”
