BW,

There is no conclusibve evidence AQ is stronger that I know of. Iif that info were out there, authored by some entity who knows, it would quite likly be classified. And also even if there were more attacks that wouldn't mean they are stronger. What targets are being hit and how hard? Killing innocent civilians in a far eastern nightclub doesn't sound like strength to me. bThey want to get Israel and the US and have failed miserably (after 9-11) in doing so. That much sounds like they are weaker.

Dugger
You questioned whether Al Queda has gotten stronger or not. I said based on the evidence of the worldwide spread of attacks that it is true. You may disagree but the football comparision is still a crock.

quickie,

The global attacks count, but we measure Bush's performance against what he has responsibility for - not those areas where he can do nothing - ie Spain, GB, etc.
Belichek is not responsible for the performanc eof the Indy Colts even though they belong to the same organization.

And people are 'happy' no place. Every place in the world, even the best of countries, has scads of unhappy people. Human nature. We're all gonna die one day. Most successful Ts seem to come from middle class, somewhat monied backgrounds. UBL is mega wealthy. I think Carlos was a Dr. Their operative motivation is mostly politics or class or race hate - not poverty.

BW, The Admin would love to get UBL but alone he can't do much. If you kill most of the T army, destroy their resources, eliminate their sanctuaries and destroy their infrastructure, you have, in fact, pretty much won the WOT. We aren't there yet, long way to go and more pain along the way - but we are along the way. You'll never play nice-nice with Ts and 'win' their friendship.

Gee, could the government actually want an open ended non geographicaly based low intensity conflict with an enemy that they define? Nah that's just too damn cynical, isn't it? On the other hand Scott McClellan, Presidential Spokesman (I'm assuming that means he speaks for Bush) did just say, the President made it clear that we will end (the Global War on Terror) at a time and place of our choosing. Seems pretty straightforward to me. By the way anyone else think the Zawahiri attack was a reaction to saying Rumdog's drawdown was a sign the terrorists are winning? Just a couple of weeks later right? Again I'm sure it is all just a coincidence. Its kinda like the way the price of oil goes up and down. No intelligent designer at work there, eh?

The point is this administration has tried to move the goal posts regarding OSB. We went from "Wanted Dead of Alive" to not such a big deal. We took the emphasis off OSB by invading Iraq for reasons now proven to be false. And Al Queda is spread all over the world. One need only look at what's happened over the last two years in Great Britian, Italy and other places.
I have never claimed W was evil, however one can watch one of his press conferences and draw their own conclusions as to whether he acts like a cartoon character sometimes.

Well, I know its useful to repeat this, but its the "Global War on Terror". Meaning that all those other Al Qaeda attacks out there still count.

Second, Iraq doesn't equal vietnam. Iraq is the United States as Afghanistan was to the Soviet Union. Meaning we're just training up the future crop of terrorists...someplace in Iraq right now, the next Osama is getting all sorts of fun experience.

meanwhile, we're screwing the pooch back here at home, with federal reserve board members quitting because the shits about to hit the fan, lots of asians paying for our folly, social programs falling apart because of mismanagement, the end of suburia and the current "american way of life" impending...

Did you ever notice, terroists don't come from places where people are happy? Maybe we should concentrate on improving the world, rather than blowing the shit out of it.

Or, on the other side, we could just level pretty much every muslim country out there. Literally. I'm talking carpet bombing.

I'm cool with either. I think it would be cheaper and easier to just improve the world, because if we go carpet bombing (I'm talking ending 50%+ of muslim lives, give or take 20%), the rest of the world is probably going to think about nuking us.

"The only justification for your statement is that there thankfully hasn t been another terrorist attack in the US since 9-11."

Well, yes BW. Kind of like saying the only justification for claiming Belichek is a good coach is all those super bowls he has won.

And you certainly don't know if Al Qaeda is stronger. And Bush is not my hero - he's just not the cartoon character embodiment of evil as portrayed by your side.

Corrigan, I didn't invent the PR campaign for this war. If this were truly "Osama - Dead or Alive", as you say, the why did we begin by bombing the crap out of Afghanistan? Bin Laden wan't there...

My feeling is that, with more than $25 million in rewards on his head, he should have been turned in by now, if it were possible. Apparently, it's going to take a lucky break to catch him. While this will demoralize your average "Achmed Terrorist", it won't end world terrorism
Oh, well.

I personally don't applaud President Bush -- I'm sure he doesn't have any idea what I think about anything.
And, oh yeah, he doesn't have any idea what you think about anything, either.

"Actually Bush has done an excellent job and your use of smoke and mirros can t hide the fact that since 9-11, he has protected our homeland."

The only justification for your statement is that there thankfully hasn't been another terrorist attack in the US since 9-11. There have been plenty of terrorists attacks all over the world so Al Queda is not out of business by any stretch of the imagination and in fact stronger. Partly thanks to the living recruiting poster in Iraq created by none other than your hero. Hopefully for all our sakes it will remain that way. But what are you going to say if there is? Hmm, I bet I know already.

Hillary is beginning to look good to Bullmoose.

I may have underestimated Hillary.

She is taking a militant stance on the WOT. Even more militant than
Cheney.

After all, Iran is the real threat on the subject of WMD's

"We will strike at the heart of America".

What does he mean by that? Does he mean the Midwest? Omaha
Nebraska?

Or does he mean the commercial heart of america. The Port of
Los Angeles?

Who could predict? I hope our best analysts are at work and aren't
being micro-managed by the idiots.

There seems to be some strategic planning going on by this scum.

The problem is, OBL and gang send these kinds of messages just
before an attack (London, Spain). It is speculated the loss of innocent
life and the attendant responsibility, shifts to the victims because
they failed to heed the warning, thus freeing OBL from the consequences
under Islamic law.

Actually Bush has done an excellent job and your use of smoke and mirros can't hide the fact that since 9-11, he has protected our homeland. That is why voters relected him by a larger margin and why Rpublicans control all major branches of governemnt.

When and if Democrats come up with a plan to fight terriosim that does't revolve around understanding the nuances of their 'sturm and drang' childhoods, the people might open the door to listen. Until then, you are reduced to seizing on each successful terorist attack in the world as a left wing political victory - and thereby you are ever smaller in America's rear view mirror.

Saveferris, you beat me to it. I was going to quote this line:

"Yeah, Al Qaeda s really out of business. So out of business Bin Laden is still taunting us."

and express the same idea. What a load! If these asshole alqueda guys stike again in spectacular fashion, whail and moan and knash your teeth all you want about how Bush sucks. But you are making all this fuss over an audio tape! Its OBL sitting in a cave with a Radio Shack tape recorder, for Pete's sake!

and the guy fingered for 9/11 is still sending us public love notes.

I think the fact that Osama is sending "love notes" instead of the next wave of attacks tells you all you need to know about Bush's success in the GWOT.

No, Frank, when the bullsh-t 'war on terror' began, it was "Osama: Wanted Dead or Alive." When they couldn't catch him because they were sending the bulk of U.S. forces to Iraq, then Osama suddenly became less important. Remember? The same jackass (Dubya) who pronounced that we wouldn't stop until Osama was either in jail or dead, later said that Osama wasn't really that important.

Just goes to show you that talk is indeed cheap, as F.M. points out. Now we've got thousands of Iraqis and U.S. soldiers dead in a war that didn't need to be fought, and the guy fingered for 9/11 is still sending us public love notes. Looks like your Master has gotten us into two losing causes, Frank. But that's okay; just applaud and cheer more loudly, and that'll make things all better.
