Dan “Warbucks” Snyder Strikes Again

In the early ’00s, Dan Snyder spent a lot on marquee players that resulted in bupkiss for the team beyond salary cap troubles. So he wised up, and spent his bling on the other side of the ball. He got us a hall of fame head coach, then he took Gregg Williams off of the market by making him the highest paid assistant in the league, and now they’ve imported Kansas City’s offensive guy to get our playoff level defense some balance on the other side of the ball.

The Washington Redskins, whose offense struggled in their recent playoff run, hired Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Al Saunders yesterday and signed the rest of their assistant coaches to contract extensions, the team announced.

The Redskins did not specify what role Saunders would fill or what his title would be, but a team source said he would be the primary offensive assistant, as he had been with the Chiefs.

Spend it, Danny, spend it. Hail to your vast millions!

Well, now the Skins need Larry Johnson and they’ve got a hell of an offense. As a Bronco fan I’m happy to see Saunders leave KC. He figured out how to run a very effective run-blocking scheme and was starting to make real progress by the end of the year. I think Larry Johnson is the best running back in the NFL. If he had actually started the first five games this season instead of Priest Holmes, Johnson would have come close to 2000 yards.

Saunders is a good hire, but they still need a QB. That was a great run the SKins had this year, but the one negative of the deal is that it prevented Campbell from getting any meaningful playing time to see if he can get it done or not.

Brunell is one hit away from retirement, and Ramsey just doesn’t have it.

As far as LJ goes, it’s good to finally see a Penn State running back drafted in the first round that wasn’t a total bust.

Evil capitalist that he is. Oh wait, he gets a pass since he’s the Redskins owner.

  4. I never said there was anything evil about capitalism. Never said it.

Usually the wealthy are bashed around here, unless they happen to be cheering for your side.
