Al Gore Is Not A Tepidcrat

Gore is pushing back to the White House’s dishonest response to his speech yesterday

The Attorney General is making a political defense of the President without even addressing the substantive legal questions that have so troubled millions of Americans in both political parties.

There are two problems with the Attorney General’s effort to focus attention on the past instead of the present Administration’s behavior. First, as others have thoroughly documented, his charges are factually wrong. Both before and after the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act was amended in 1995, the Clinton/Gore Administration complied fully and completely with the terms of the law.

Second, the Attorney General’s attempt to cite a previous administration’s activity as precedent for theirs – even though factually wrong – ironically demonstrates another reason why we must be so vigilant about their brazen disregard for the law. If unchecked, their behavior would serve as a precedent to encourage future presidents to claim these same powers, which many legal experts in both parties believe are clearly illegal.

The issue, simply put, is that for more than four years, the executive branch has been wiretapping many thousands of American citizens without warrants in direct contradiction of American law. It is clearly wrong and disrespectful to the American people to allow a close political associate of the president to be in charge of reviewing serious charges against him.

Al Gore was scheduled to be introduced, by the way, by noted Clinton sympathizer Bob Barr. Pinko liberal that he is.

    Who’s assassinating his character?

  2. Semanticleo says:

The banter between Al and Scotty is about as productive as the back-and
    forth at this site.

  3. drpedro says:

So do we trust Barr or not? You sure didn’t when he wanted to boot Clenis out of the WH.

“Consistency, its not just for breakfast anymore”

  4. I wouldn’t trust Bob Barr when it comes to the political intracacies of running a country, but as odious as I find him personally the guy has a rock solid record on privacy. I’d turn that around and ask you whether you trust Bob Barr only when he was trying to impeach President Clinton and now that he’s under Al Gore’s voodoo, you don’t?

  5. White Whale says:

As opposed to the legal mind that is W. Okay.

  6. VRWC drone says:

we must be so vigilant about their brazen disregard for the law.

I don’t know about you guys, but I prefer my law interpretation to be done by people who have actually finished law school.

  7. TomY says:

God bless Al Gore. The amount of character assasination his speech has provoked among the right wing is testimony to the strength of his arguments. We’ve never had an administration so corrupt.

  8. Semanticleo says:

“The better the ostensible justification for an infringement upon domestic liberty, the more suspicious one ought to be of it.”

That’s Chris Hitchens guys ‘n gals, the rock-solid defender of the WOT
showing the integrity of a true warrior against terror. no shill for
Bush is he. There’s more……”But a power or a right, once relinquished to one administration for one reason, will unfailingly be exploited by successor administrations, for quite other reasons.”

He once was a real man with balls of steel. Now, I guess he’s gonna
    be labeled just another ’sissy-boy’.

Cleenis? Man I don’t want to out you Dr. pedro, but it sound like you have serious penis envy of our ex-president. But I have to say that Republicans are always ahead when it comes to being perverted in the realm of sex. You do not want to take Barr seriously because he actually is an old school Republican: Keep goverment out of my life. Funny, do republicans even realize dear George is turning into Commie right before our eyes? Sounds like Mother Russia tactics to me. Republicans should be outraged but you threw away your Republican precepts to have your own king, and now you realize how hard it is to defend a aristocrat with a good conscious because he doesn’t give a damn about you. Have a nice day.

  10. Wilbur says:

I don’t trust Bob Barr even when he says something i agree with. Point is he explodes the lie that wingbats like pedro have tried to spread: that this is all a partisan demoncrat, hate-bush, get-bush feeding frenzy.

  11. drpedro says:

I never thought that way….I think it is the partisan democrat hate bush crowd, plus the black helicopter right wing wacko unibomber government brain control ray, crowd

  12. drpedro says:

Sorry OW that is a bit disingenous…but yea, me too, I only trust bob barr when he agrees with me…

  13. Semanticleo says:

    We hate the sin.

  14. Bushwacked says:

I dont hate Bush. I just hate what he has done. There is a big difference.
Its time to get over Clinton (he’s been out of office for almost 5 years!) and wake up to what is happening to our Bill of Rights or risk losing them permanently. I didn’t vote for Al Gore because he spent most of his time pandering to senior citizens about social security and let other issues fall by the wayside. But he was right on in his speech yesterday.

If you support the “Imperial President” and dont mind giving up your rights for false security, then just say so. Quit whining about Clinton and accusing the rest of us as being Bush haters because we stand up for what we believe is right.

  15. Frank_D says:

Hey, wacked, why don’t you and your left wing alarmist buddies stop beating on this “If you support the Imperial President and dont mind giving up your rights for false security” drum? It’s getting old. The “Imperial Presidency” was a term coined by Arthur Schlesinger, Jr., and it had its beginnings with FDR.
Perhaps the C – in – C wasn’t supposed to have these powers, but he’s got them, OK?
Were it not for the real conservatives in this country, not the people you call conservatives, we might be in some real jeorpardy with regards to our civil liberties.
Arguing over whether Clinton did it, too, is a waste of a time. We know he did any number of unconstitutional things in the White House, and I don’t care.
At this point in time, it is important to beat terrorists, and anybody — and this is going directly out to you, frameone — who thinks that makes me a ‘chickenshit”, can kiss my my big, white, Italian – Anglo – Welsh ass.

    And, also:
I dont hate Bush. I just hate what he has done. There is a big difference.
That is stupendous left wing horseshit. If you don’t like what he has done, how could you like him? And if there is some fine hair – splitting way of distinguishing between “who he is” and “what he has done”, it sure isn’t a big difference.

Sheesh, you liberals are like pixies.

  16. Semanticleo says:

“If you don t like what he has done, how could you like him?”

Just ask your priest about the ‘hair-splitting’ he does when he
‘hates the sin, but not the sinner’ the next time you go to confession.

  17. Dugger says:

BTW. Bob Barr got gerrymandered out of existence in Cobb County and since has moved leftward (though he has always been a bit of a libertarian). I like Bob Barr and I think he is only making a living and staying visible, but be advised this is not quite what it seems.

  18. Big Gay Al says:

Nice rant there Frank. What, no 9/11 reference?

I fear we are becoming a country that chooses to conduct itself on the basis of what happened on its most terrible day. Imagine if Japan continued to base their decisions on what happened on August 6, 1945. Because of “Daddy, save me crowd,” we are well on our way towards that fate.

  19. Frank_D says:

Cleo. that next lightning bolt that strikes could hit you. Are you comparing Bushwacked to God? Or a priest in a confessional?
I didn’t say Bush was a sinner, and neither did he. He said, “I dont hate Bush. I just hate what he has done. There is a big difference.”
Now, please, instead of directing me to the nearest confessional, won’t you tell me how it is that a person can hate what a person has done, and not hate the person?
Given the fact that you know nothing about person, except what you read in the papers, how would you know anything “about him” that is different from “what he has done”?
Could you perhaps name something about him that you like? Say, his choice of shoes? His hairstyle? Please, tell me.

  20. Semanticleo says:

What is the chasm in your thought mechanism that sees no
comparison between ‘hate the sin, not the sinner’ and ‘hate what
    Bush does, not him’?

Also, I like Bush’s relentless nature, just not how he uses it.

  21. Frank_D says:

BGA: Do you have a better idea? Like, say, turning back history, and pretending there was no Depression, no WW II, no Cold War, no WTC I, no WTC II?

Let’s take it back to 7/5/76, and tell those Brits where to get off, eh?

Maybe we could repeal the Civil War, Reconstruction, and the “Progressive Movement” which led us to ‘Big Government.’

Every day, everone in America will get up and vote on everything. We can do away with Congress.

And the the acid will wear off, and you’ll wake up in America.

  22. Frank_D says:

Cleo, could you just answer the question…

You like Bush’s relentless nature, but not how he uses it.
So, in other words, you would prefer either 1) Bush’s relentless nature, but not when used by Bush; or 2) Bush’s relentless nature used by someone else you like.

    See?

  23. Semanticleo says:

Your unresolved anger issues affect your thinking.

Let me see if you can twist this into a barrel of snakes…..

I like Bush’s relentless focus when he does the right thing.

  24. midderpidge says:

Frank peed all over himself, probably in a crowd, on 9-11. The teasing he takes to this day has really warped his judgement. We need to put away the constitution until the terrorists are taken care of, Newsflash to Frank, they will never be taken care of, more are being created every day. At what point does this country have to stop reacting in fear and start taking a rational assessment of what is going on?

  25. Frank_D says:

Ooooh, tough guy Midderpidge! I ain’t a scared a no terrorists! I love the Constitution more than Frank!
I love the Bill of Rights more than Frank!
I love them so much, that I’d sacrifice thousands of other people’s lives, so that my interpretation of privacy and individual rights will be upheld.

Answer me this, Midderpidge: Did you ever stand in formation in the morning looking at your orders to go to the Republic of Viet Nam, and have to decide “Is this the right thing to do?” “Should I go?” “What happens if I refuse?”

Answer me this, Midderpidge: Did you ever stand in a bunker, in the night, looking through the slit over the barrel of an M – 60, wondering if tonight was the night Charlie was going to come busting through the wire?
    No?

Well, then you don’t know shit about fear, and you never will. You’ve got nothing to be afraid of. When the next terrorist attack comes, because Achmed was making his daily calls to Abdul, it won’t be you that gets into the C – 130’s and heads out for The Sandbox; it will be brave young men from “flyover country.”

When the next terrorist attack comes, because Jack “Sgt. Fury” Murtha and Dr. “Demento” Dean, inform the terrorists that we’re disheartened and just about ready to pull out, it won’t be you that slips into a firefighter’s uniform, or a policeman’s uniform, or an EMT’s gear. Those kinds of jobs are for veterans, who know the meaning of public service.

You’re just a parasite; “Stop, or my Mother will shoot!”

    Punk.

  26. Frank_D says:

Yeah, cleo, and I like you when you do, or say, the right thing…
    But you never do…
Is it dawning on you yet?

  27. Semanticleo says:

I must be doing something right if you don’t like me.

  28. frameone says:

“Well, then you don t know shit about fear, and you never will.”

The light and space of flyover country put the zap on Frank’s brain.

Frank I don’t give a shit if you served, how long you served, when you served, why you served or where you served. At this moment you believe that your or my personal safety is more important than the Constitution. My how the mighty have fallen.

  29. Frank_D says:

I don t give a shit if you served, how long you served, when you served, why you served or where you served.

Because you are a self – centered, spineless, unpatriotic punk, who doesn’t deserve to call himself an American, just because the sperm cell that entered his mother’s ovum was finished conceiving on this side of the border.

And I’ll leave you with this, pigshit: The Constitution is worth a million of you, but I would roll it up into a tube and set it on fire and stick into the eye of a terrorist, if it would save my family.
It is a piece of paper, you butt – munching holder of no values, no meaning, but your scrawny La La Land ass.

And I recognize the stupid paraphrase from Apocalypse Now, shithead!

  30. frameone says:

“The Constitution is worth a million of you, but I would roll it up into a tube and set it on fire and stick into the eye of a terrorist, if it would save my family.”

No one is talking about the literal piece of paper that the Consitution is written on you idiot. But it’s clear neverhteless that you would gladly surrender every principle and right that has made this country what it is for an illusion of safety. Just an illusion of safety. You are a fool Frank, a fool following criminals.
