Bill O’Reilly had a dillemma. It was December, the news was slow, so he had to do something to get “The Factor” its ratings and keep the right’s siege mentality humming along. So he made up a war on Christmas. Ignoring the idea that people like saying “Happy Holidays” to each other, O’Reilly decreed that this was an affront to Christianity — a plot hatched up by Democrats, the ACLU and witches to somehow oppress the overwhelming Christian majority we’ve got in America. He certainly didn’t let facts get in the way of his idiotic crusade, and smeared people left and right - all in the pursuit of ratings and power for the New McCarthy.
But then he went too far. He took the moment and overplayed his hand.
Last night on the O’Reilly Factor, Bill O’Reilly berated Catholic leaders for their indifference towards his made-up War on Christmas, and said that it was just as bad as the church’s mishandling of the child abuse scandal.
Yes. Bill O’Reilly has elevated his made up war on Christmas to the same level as serial child rape.

Always has been a blowhard. His constant yammering just serves to reinforce it.
I hope catholics boycott all the wonderful Spin Zone Christmas schwag this year and single handedly bring Bill down. Like he did to Pepsi and the French.

Okay, whether you think O’Reilly’s the stupidest man alive or not, we can agree that the so-called “War on Christmas” is the stupidest, most blatantly fake frighten-the-rubes strategy the republicans have ever manufactured.
Just like Fox News, he always identifies himself as a centrist, objective, no-spin independent. But he’s carried so much for the GOP and Bush that it’s hard to take very seriously. It may well be the case that he’s independent in his own mind, but functionally, his independence has meant very little criticism for Bush relative to what he dishes out towards liberals and Democrats.

Considering that some Christians have equated the fictional War on Christmas with the Nazis oppressing the Jews during WWII (toward the end of the clip), I’m beyond surprise at any charge O’Reilly or anybody can come up with. It’s ridiculous.
