Fired worker testifies in Ehrlich personnel inquiry
A former personnel manager for the Department of Human Resources told a legislative committee today that the Ehrlich administration ordered that some employees in his agency be fired “so supportive Republicans could be put into office.”
Thomas Burgess, a Republican who stayed on for about a year after Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. took office, said he was also fired and was told his name was put on a “hit list” because “I had the nerve to recommend that a Democrat be promoted” to a high-ranking position in the department.
Gee, Oliver do you ever think that this man just is upset because he got fired. If this is all the Dems have, Ehrlich will win with a bigger margin than I thought.
It is true that one persons word alone doesn’t mean that Ehrlich is performing an ideological cleansing. But it’s still something to keep in mind, especially considering that [Burgess is a Republican and doesn't have a partisan axe to grind]. Also, Ian, I would like to enquire what your response would be if several more fired employees brought such accusations.
Sundown, it doesn’t matter, things like this happen all the time. And what’s the big deal, this is a blue state and Ehrlich needs all the Repubs he can get.
