Why is anyone surprised? Of course the Repugs are going to run on domestic issues. The same “domestic” issues they always run on:

1) Gay marriage!
2) Abortion!
3) Illegal immigrants!
4) Porn!
5) Steroids!

Should be fun.

Ah, lovely. We’re to be treated to yet another Bush State of the Union wherein he speaks as if he had not held the office of President for the last five years. They’re going to “launch” themselves anew for 2006.

Good luck, suckers. I understand that the American capacity for gullibility if sometimes boundless — PT Barnum was right — but somewhere there’s a breaking point. The “fiscal responsibility” angle, if they really try it, should be a true spectacle coming from a man and party who have succeeded primarily in exploding the debt and deficit to both finance their adventuring and stroke their base.

If nothing else, this promises to be high comedy. A note to the President: It’s the State of the Union address, not a goddamn stump speech. Start acting like it.

Well, they can either run on domestic issues, or they can spend the entire campaign answering questions about non-existent WMDs, Eastern European torture facilities, dead Marines being shipped home as cargo, where the fuck is Osama already?, and everything else associated with the GWWoT (George W.’s war on Truth).

Of course, Social Security piratization and the Medicare give-away to Big Pharma aren’t going to help them any, either.

Is it time to stick a fork in them yet?
