Agree with Matalin. The ‘we can’t win’ remark was poison to sane Democrats. If Dean gets his way the core of the Democratic party will reside solely in Hollywood, Massachusetts and college faculties.

Nothing monetary. I am not a betting man. If the Republican National Committee fires Melhman before Dean is ousted, for the specific stated reason of his sexual orientation, then I will not vote Republican in the next electoral cycle. I do not know if you are an American or not, but you could abstain from voting Democrat if you are.

jadegold does not really want to take that bet, ian. No matter what happens, jade cannot get his head around the fact that Republicans do not hate in the way that he projects us to do so. Notice that he already claims to know why this person will be fired, despite a dearth of evidence.

I didn’t see it .. but was that before/after Bush 41 said “Read my lips ..”, because that’s what killed him. Anyways, with all this backlash Howie is getting it would be the correct thing for Dems to dump him. He only supports 30% of the party anyways, the extreme left wing fringe.

DU has a great piece on Dean’s track record on Iraq. Basically he always spoke the truth long abefore anyone else was ready to hear it.

In Feb. 2003, when Colin Powell presented the case for the invasion before the UN, the rest of the Democratic Party cheered but Dean said, “I heard little today that leads me to believe that there is an imminent threat warranting unilateral military action by the United States against Iraq.”

Later that same month, Dean warned that the Bush administration was preparing to invade Iraq unilaterally, Tom Delay dismissed him saying, “”either doesn’t know what he’s talking about … or he’s seriously uninformed, or he’s just misleading the American people and his party.”

In April 2003, when Saddam was captured and, again, the rest of the Party claimed vindication for their war vote, Dean said, “”All these folks who are crowing about their vote and the outcome are going to learn that the occupation will be very difficult.” He added, “I’m not a pacifist. We’ve removed a horrible dictator, but the price we’re going to pay is down the road.”

I’d have predicted that Terry McAuliffe wouldn’t have been party chairman after Election Day ‘02, but he remained so. Is Matalin claiming that Dean, in the face of defeat, would have more dignity than McAuliffe?
