Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), yesterday on the Bill Press Show: I ve spoken to Joe Lieberman and he knows he s out there alone. I mean, literally alone. Joe is a fine man, he has strong feelings, but he s just alone. Even Republicans don t agree with Joe.

Again, Joe Lieberman is a solid liberal on domestic policy. He may be out there alone on the war issue but that’s not a reason to blast him something fierce. I also tend to think the media is substituting liberal blogger hatred for Lieberman with actual Democratic voters and party leaders. Lieberman is NOT persona non grata in the Democratic Party, even if Daily Kos would lead you to think so.
Maybe Joe L just owns some airline stocks. There’s money to be made there in the freight busness.

Why is it that the media portrays Sen. McCain as a maverick when he goes against his party, but when Sen. Lieberman does so, he does not get portrayed in the same fashion ?
