Fifteen percent of all workers say they have been discriminated against in their workplace during the past year, according to a new Gallup Organization poll.
According to the conservative timeline, discrimination was eliminated at some point in the ’70s. Every other apparent incident of bias or discrimination has simply been a product of the liberal press.

Two paragraphs do a nice job summing up both the truth behind this story, and its shortcomings:
“We need to go back and track . . . what are the differences” between people’s perception of discrimination and the actual filings, Dominguez said. “Then we can do a better job of outreach.”
The survey was reported on the day Best Buy Co., the nation’s largest electronics retailer, was sued by six current and former employees who claim they were passed over for promotions and raises based on their sex, race and ethnicity, and when the EEOC filed a class-action lawsuit in Chicago against AutoNation Inc., alleging that the auto retailer subjected employees at its Elmhurst, Ill., Kia dealership to racial, national origin and religious harassment.
In my view, the problem is less that many mainline conservatives deny that discrimination is a serious issue. It’s more that too many of them don’t think the federal government or the courts have any business doing anything about it.
Ahhhhh, yes…. the gun control argument.
Because it’s been well proven that gun laws have all but eliminated gun related deaths and injuries in America.
And I noticed that speed limits have eliminated all speeding violations.
And there are no murders since that’s been outlawed.
And of course, with all the regulations regarding immigration, the number of “undocumented” immigrants is zero as well.
The problem is not that mainline conservatives deny that discrimination is a serious issue, nor do we think the courts have no business doing anything about it.
That’s what laws are for, and where they are addressed - in court!
We just aren’t naive enough to believe that outlawing it will make it stop.
It’s interesting, isn’t it, that the story cites case after caseof employees filing suit for relief under the law, of courts applying the law, just as it should be.
And yet what’s missing, as usual, is any fact or citation in support of Oliver’s assertion that the Right believes discrimination is “imaginary.”
Are you going to cite a source for that outrageous claim, or just fall back on “everyone knows this” after throwing another dud grenade and retreating to the bunker?
“Everyone knows this” it is, then.
I never said we need new laws on the books, I’m more talking about the accepted conservative belief that these kinds of suits are “frivolous” or “activist”, etc.

This is more of that quality debate rhetoric they teach in high school now, isn’t it?
Unless it’s bias towards Christians, which now comprises about 99% of incidents, including the movement to ban Christmas (punishable by death if caught with an evergreen in your house), profiling by police (pulling over cars with Jesus fish on them), and employers not hiring people who wore crucifixes to their interview.
