zambo, I’m 36, more liberal now than I was 25 (I was libertarian then), and my brain works just fine. It is because my brain is working that I’m a liberal, not a conservative.
I always interpreted that quote differently. To me, it’s real meaning is what is radical now will be normal later. So, what you have fought long and hard for in your youth, you should be conservative in preserving your older years, lest some extreme right-wing lunatic try to take it away from you.
Example: liberals fought long and hard for a better deal for workers, anti-trust laws, medical care for all, pensions, anti-pollution laws, etc. Until recently, those issues were considered resolved and finished. The “conservative” thing to do is not to mess with a system that now works. But the lunatics keep trying to find ways to undo all the good that has been done. That makes them the radicals, not us liberals.

Frolisch Geburstag(Happy Birthday). Don’t beat yourself up about getting older. Just think of this as your mid-mid life crisis. YOu will think once I am thirty I am not young but not old. My father had his midlife crisis and told me that people in thier twenties really don’t know shit, and when I asked him why he surrendered that they just don’t know how shitty things are at 48. Live it up while you can, lord knows that I turn 25 this month and already feel you have to force the fun alittle. Jeez
