Noose Man Talks To The Faithful

George Allen, who by the way hung up a hangman’s noose and a confederate flag, is making his move to be the choice of the con faithful in ‘08.

    Ssssshhhhhh.

    Let’s not discourage them.

  2. Frank_D says:

Novak’s “inside story” goes back to May — Allen is ancient history. Giuliani is way out ahead of the “serious” contenders. The “fantasy” column — or write – in is lead by none other than, nah, I better not. But she’s beating Giuliani.

    Hope for Allen — please!

  3. Jadegold says:

Giuliani isn’t a serious contender, Frankie.

Do you really think the Repugs will get behind someone who is pro-choice, pro-gay and has the baggage (cheated on wife, ethical questions, etc) Giuliani has?

  4. Frank_D says:

BTW — for the record, asswipe, he has been leading polls for months. But, of course, your “inside sources” tell you otherwise.

    Ass.

  5. Frank_D says:

You know what? I’m not done with you yet, JG the P. What the fuck goes through that oatmeal that passes behind your nose?

Making up juvenile names for everybody from here to Rangoon, talking out of your ass, as if you are an expert on things that it soon becomes obvious you know nothing about?

How many blogs have you been banned from?

How many name changes have you made?

How dare you be condescending to me, you twit! I was smarter than you thirty years ago. A fucking lobotomy wouldn’t make me less smart than you. Go back under the rock you crawled out from under.

  6. Frank_D says:

JadeGold the Putz: Until you grow the f*ck up you will be ignored. Children should be seen and not heard.

  8. bryan says:

    Now who’s the bully?

  9. Serious, credible candidates: Allen, McCain, Frist, Huckabee
Fantasy land: Giuliani, Rice – these two have as much chance of happening as Bill Clinton coming back for term 3, the liberal version of the fairytale

The one that, as a Democrat, presents the strongest challenge is McCain. I wouldn’t discount Huckabee either because those Southern governors have some sort of electoral magic.

  10. Wilbur says:

Frank, chill out for chrissakes. Jadegold’s playing you like a kitten with a laser pointer. Rise above it, man, rise above it.

  11. Sphagnum says:

At this stage of the primary, those polls are mostly about name recognition, and hell we all remember Dean leading all the polls coming up to the 2004 Dem primaries…

Guiliani will never get the GOP nod, and if he did he’d lose because Conservatives would stay home. Allen will emerge as a very serious candidate because of his strong Conservative principles and experience both as Senator and Governor. He’s a strong candidate, even if he isn’t widly known now.

  12. ian says:

Oliver what is it with you and labeling Republicans as racists. I mean do you have so much hate for whitey that you have to cover up your racism with calling others racist?

  13. southpaw says:

Who does Falwell like. Whoever he likes will be the chosen one.

  14. phinky says:

Gee, Frank how many blogs have you been banned from? You sure do like to hop on everyone’s case here. BTW, have you actually converted anyone to your side?

Ian, I have never seen Oliver say a bad thing about white people. Accusing someone of rascism is not rascism. Pointing out that someone has a rascist symbol (yes, the “rebel” flag is a rascist symbol just like the Nazi flag is) in his office is not rascism. Yes, George Allen has every right to display a confederate flag in his house. And we have every right to call him on it and ask why he has a noose and confederate flag on display in his home and office.
And not every white person votes Republican. By the use of code words like “welfare queen” and trying to reverse the gains made by the civil rights movement, they have won the votes of a certain crowd who think they are entitled to a certain position in society because of their skin color. Not every Republican is rascist, but when Trent Lott remembers the “good old days” of Jim Crow, you have to ask, WTF?

  15. Jadegold says:

Ian–need directions to the recruiting office?

Gosh, Frankie, I counted two comments to me directly after you claimed you would ignore me. Doesn’t speak well for your integrity or mental health.

Sphagnum is correct; the polls you see now are largely about name recognition. When campaigning begins in earnest, Giuliani will be a non-factor especially when the Southern ignoramuses find out he’s pro-choice and pro-gay. Then you’ll hear about how he elevated the very criminal Bernie Kerik to use his job as NYPD Commissioner to extort money. And the affairs–especially with the one who was on city payroll.

Not going to play well in Tobacco Chaw-country.

  16. ian says:

Jadegold, I respect my brain way to much to dignify that remark with a response .. but may I ask you something .. what in the hell does this liberal talking point/slogan has to do with anything we are discussing? You assume that since I disagree with Oliver that I must be a Republican and then you assume that since I am a Republican that I am pro war. Well one thing here is safe to assume, you’re an idiot.

  17. Jadegold says:

Ian–run along now and tell mommy how much you respect your brain.

Maybe she’ll give you a cookie.

  18. ian says:

    I don’t have a mother.

  19. ian says:

Hey Jadegold .. do you have a job? Or are you living off the gov’t ?

  20. Jadegold says:

Ian–I get ‘dates’ for your mom.

  21. Jadegold says:

Ian–she’s over at my place ordering PappaJohn’s pizza.

Hey, it’s a crappy job but it buys you time on the internets.

  22. goatchowder says:

    Gentlemen, please.

This entire thread has comprised personal attacks with near-zero actual political content.

We need a new corrollary to Godwin’s Law: when a put-down skirmish devolves to grade-school-level “I fucked your mom and she she blew me too” fodder, it’s over.

In this case I think Frank may actually *be* Giuliani posting anonymously, so go easy on him.

  23. Yeah, lay off the your mom stuff. And Ian, if you think I’m racist — prove it. You won’t have much evidence.

  24. AlexCorrigan says:

Oliver’s post didn’t say, or imply, that “all Republicans are racists.” That is a Straw Man argument. On the other hand, the Republicans did begin their latest rise to power by appealing directly to racists– white supremacists, specifically.

Remember Nixon’s Southern Strategy? That was how the party of wealthy Northerners managed to take in the Dixiecrats, and eventually many working- and middle-class whites all over the country.

The reason so few blacks vote Republican isn’t because Democrats somehow manage to fool them. Contrary to what seem to imply, Frank, most blacks aren’t ignorant children looking for a government nanny. However, most blacks likely have an understanding that the party of erstwhile Dixiecrats, the party of Strom Thurmond and Jesse Helms, isn’t exactly looking to give them their tax dollars’ worth. Any doubts about that should have been erased by the ‘response’ to Hurricane Katrina.

That is the relevance of the original post: no one believes that all Republicans are racists, but an open and unapologetic racist (like Helms, Thurmond, and apparently Allen) can hold high office as a Republican, and even seriously consider running for President. That says more about the Republicans and their constituency than any perceived condescenion toward blacks might say about the Democrats.

Oh, and by the way, that’s why Giuliani doesn’t stand a chance. He’s far too urbane and >ahemethnic, among other things, for the heartlanders in flyover country to take him seriously. Why do you think the Kennebunkport draft-dodging trust fund baby set up a dude ranch in the middle of Texas? His handlers knew he had to have weedbender cred for him to sell in the red states. It worked like a charm; is it still condescension when it works that well?

  25. Frank_D says:

Notice who pulled mothers into the thread — Dr. IQ

But, seriously, my point was not about Giuliani; it was about Allen. I don’t know where he went, or how he got there, but his possible candidacy faded away months ago. Even if you disagree, what do you think this bit of news will do for him?

You may think that all Republicans are racists, but a) they don’t always vote that way, and b) not all racists are Republicans..

Personally, I think this whole “Republicans are racists” thing is code to Afro – Americans: “Stick with us Democrats, we know what’s best for you. How are you going to get by in life if we don’t take care of you?”

    Condescending bullshit.

  26. dugger1 says:

Nice to see Corrigan chime in. Must have run out of analogies comparing US Marines to Nazis.

BTW, Allen is the probably the favorite of religious oriented cons, Guiliani otherwise. Right now my guess is Rudi versus Hillary.

    Dugger

  27. SaveFarris says:

Oliver s post didn t say, or imply, that all Republicans are racists.

    This one did.

  28. JD says:

Alex, Oliver’s post, in fact, did not imply that all Republicans are racists. It simply asserts that Republicans love racism. It does not qualifty it by saying some Republicans love racism, or most Republican, or a few Republicans, and it is a reasonable conclusion, given Oliver’s considerable writing skills, that were he to have wanted to qualify this assertion, he would have.

  29. SadieB says:

So no one can dispute Corrigan, you have to go back to criticizing Oliver for calling the Repubs on their game. Typical.

If you guys spent half as much time trying to clean up the racism in your own political party as you do trying to silence its critics, we could really be getting somewhere as a country.
