A member of Free Republic, the most popular online forum for conservatives, has made this statement about Patrick Fitzgerald – the special prosecutor investigating the White House:
Shoot him. Shoot him now. He’s nothing but a DNC butt boy.
Is this what passes for rational thought on the right? (via DU)

I don’t understand linking to individual forum posts.
There’s enough relevant news for you, O-Dubs.
Actually, no. That doesn’t pass for rational thought on the right. Next, please
Frank get’s it…goooood. So you agree, all’s fair in Blogging and War.
Think a minute, cellulose. You’ll get it. Who has just written a book called Unhinged?
Of course, I agree with with Mighty Michelle!
Ah. That means you ignore contradictory evidence. Makes sense.
Looks like they’ve removed the post. I don’t think even Free Republic will allow actual direct threats of violence… at least not against a specific person. At least not a threat that someone might actually investigate. It does seem that not a day goes by that some Freeper doesn’t call for the someone’s death, though. It’s part of the charm of Free Republic.
BTW: Frank don’t try to talk logic to Oliver, it’s like teaching a dog how to speak English.
The difference, Brandon, is that Jean Schmidt degraded an elected official. Fitzgerald is prosecuting criminals. I’d say that merits a distinction, but I’ll add one to your tally for the effort.
I suppose I should applaud the flypaper theory all you conservatives are employing. Why not fight the logic here rather than at your sites. Please provide addresses so we can mail your white feathers in honor of your valiant service to all that is bat shit dumb.
And from the same Democratic Underground comes this suggestion that Jean Schmidt should be tortured.
“Cowardly crone Bushbot. Send her to Gitmo.”
Cherry picking is fun. Right Ollie?
“Ignore contradictory evidence”? Huh?
Oliver if there ever was an award for cherry picking you would win it.
I love it. What’s with all the crazy right wingers calling for the murder/assisnation of people? Haha
Oliver, who said the following? (Hint: It wasn’t a solitary poster on an Internet message board, it was someone who many here are probably fans of.)
Good catch, Ollie.
If there’s ANYONE who’s an expert on flagrant partisanship, obscene over-the-top rhetoric, utter irrationality, and utter furious insanity, it’s Democratic Underground.
Kind of an expert witness on the subject.

Yup and OW is a fan of Ms. Rhodes.
The fact is FreeRepublic represents today’s GOP; generally, they’ll
remove posts threatening violence if it catches some outside attention. Most of the time, though, they won’t. I recall a thread at FR where commenters–hearing that our last democratically-elected President was visiting a certain US city–speculated on the President’s route from the airport and where the best sniper positions might be.
And let’s face it–wasn’t it the kooky Roger Simon of Open Sores Media who threatened some dark, dire vengeance if Kerry won the election?
The threat of violence is really all the GOPers can cling to now that their policies and competence have been exposed as seriously lacking. I expect this kind of rhetoric to increase as GOP poll numbers fall.
Andrew Mickel is claerly mentally unbalanced. But Dugger should not pretend his side hasn’t any deranged, sick individuals. Pat Buchanan’s brother stalked and tried to kill a Clinton admin. official.
Mental illness knows no ideological boundaries.
But Dugger is once more obfuscating the issue; the fact is FR is the leading conservative forum. GOP congressmen, rightwing pundits and authors and Moonie Times editors and reporters routinely comment in its forum.
And let’s face it–when was the last time you heard a leftwing talkshow host or talking head advocating genocide–not just of foreign people but US citizens?
Sometimes it’s not the words themselves, but people’s reactions to them that I find most interesting.
Keep pushing those buttons, OW.
JK
“Sometimes it s not the words themselves, but people s reactions to them that I find most interesting.”
You mean when we point out how much of a bitter partisan Oliver is?
Yes, I find that most interesting.
“The fact is FreeRepublic represents today s GOP”
Then using your F’ed up logic, Jadey, we can safely assume that Democratic Underground represents today’s Democratic Party.
Jadegold, not true.
Secondly — why hasn’t anyone pointed out that this is blatant hypocrisy. DU complaining about threads at FR? Hello? Pot calling the kettle.
Oh oh!! How about this one :
Someone should have aborted her political career a long time ago. What an evil creepy and insane bitch that woman is! (Sorry to bitches everywhere to compare you to her)

Okay, so everybody repudiates the extremists on their side of the debate, right? Of course, the definition of extreme has been blown all out of whack. In a discussion between OW, Dugger and Jay Tea, all of whom support torture, the only extreme position left is threatening assassination. Peechy. I can’t wait untl we push that line back even further and Pat Robertson becomes the moderate poster boy for politically-motivated murder.
If I’m understanding Ian correctly, hoping for a person(Jean Schmidt, in this case) to lose an election is equivalent or worse than calling for a prosecuter to be killed.
Just to make sure, am I interpretting you correctly, Ian?
Those fools would support the assassination of anyone who threatened republican power, along with the mexicans and black people.
!!! outer_space’s comment is liberal rational “thought”.
True conservatives don’t punctuate the beginning of a sentence, thats what they do in mexico.
And, whats the deal with an indian wearing feathers, inside a circle thats also wearing the same feathers?
Proof conservatives have no problem with pointless redundancy.
The “!!!” was emphasis.
outer_space Says:
More proof that there is just mush inside of liberals heads.
Jadegold, not true.
Of course it’s true.
And when you have rightwingers like Bill O’Falafel saying that SF deserves to be hit by terrorist attacks or Michael Savage yapping about how all gays should catch AIDS and Pat Robertson promising some biblical disaster to some city on nearly a weekly basis—it’s pretty clear the GOP is the party of hate and violence.
Try and remember O’Falafel, Savage, Limbaugh, Robertson, Falwell etc. isn’t some teenaged social outcast typing away on his mom’s computer. They are the mainstream representatives of conservatism.
If that’s what helps you sleep at night, Jadey, knock yourself out.
Jadegold was that a jab at me?
Not intentionally; but I can see the shoe fits very well.
Jadegold was that a jab at me?
If you lie-berals put as much thought as you do in your put downs you guys might not be the laughing stock of this country.
Haha, if you only knew.
Come now, Ian. You know it’s true.
But cheer up. It’s not your fault–it’s mommy’s and daddy’s.
Meanwhile, notice how for the “progressive” posters here, a single comment on a conservative Web site is more representative of the movement than a Presidential assassination described in approving detail by a national radio talk show host.
Cmon Tuco! You know when the left does it, it doesn’t count. Or it’s just an ‘isolated’ incident, whereas according to complete idiots like JG, it’s par for the course in the GOP. I would venture that 80-90% of all GOP voters have no clue who Michael Savage is, yet JG seems to think he’s representative of the mainstream in GOP circles.
Yet, left wing talk show hosts can advocate shooting the President, groups can make t-shirts with the President’s head in the crosshairs of a gun, celebrities can take to the airwaves and talk about “stoning to death” GOP leaders, other radio talk show hosts advocate beating up journalists critical towards Democrats. The list goes on, but then again, it doesn’t count.
Contrary to Mr. Rat’s and Jay C’s attempts to reframe the issue–it’s not about a “single comment on a conservative Web site.”
The fact is you can go to FR every day and find several instances of commenters talking about violence against fellow Americans. And, of course, FR isn’t alone–go to the usual Repug sites and you’ll find likewise.
Additionally, you have GOP TV and radio hosts who do the same.
Well, Jadegold, since you apparently go to FR every day, why don’t you report back with links to “several instances,” not “talking about violence,” but actually threatening actual violence?
Care to tell the names of the “usual” sites where violence against American citizens is proposed? And then please report back to us with links.
What, advocate violence against fellow Americans? I’m sure you’ve got the evidence here, too.
Jadegold, put up or STFU.
Sorry, that’s Alec Baldwin, not Alex Baldwin.
Contrary to Mr. Rat s and Jay C s attempts to reframe the issue it s not about a single comment on a conservative Web site.
Don’t duck and run. Nobody’s reframing the issue. You’re just being dishonest about the issue, which is always the case. The fact is, FR is a message board that anybody can access and post to. One has to actually go digging for those sorts of comments to find them. I can browse through FR’s website, and never read that comment. Randi Rhodes on the other hand, is a nationally syndicated radio talk show host. She controls the content of her show, because it’s hers. When you listen, that’s all one hears. And on her show, she advocated the assassination of a United States President.
Mike Malloy is also a nationally syndicated radio talk show host. He advocated beating up bloggers critical of Democrats.
2.5-3 million people watched Demcratic activist Alex Baldwin advocate stoning Henry Hyde and his family to death on the Conan O’Brien show.
Democratic Underground is a cesspool of hatred where advocation of violence often has to be removed because it gets outside of that realm.
Now, I could be an intellectually dishonest fool like JG and say these examples are typical of mainstream Democratic politics. But won’t, because it’s not.
Just as this comment on FR is not representative of mainstream GOP politics or conservatism. Neither is Michael Savage. Only fools believe otherwise.
And let’s not forget musch of this fomenting of violence comes from GOP leaders. Here are the remarks of Sen. John Cornyn (Repug-TX) at a time when a federal judge’s family had been murdered by a deranged man:
Again, GOP Congressmen, RNC talkingheads, Conservative Symps, Moonie Times editors and reporters routinely post on FR.
As I noted earlier, Bill O’Falafel recently hoped SF would be hit by terrorism and it seems that a week doesn’t go by when Pat Robertson isn’t threatening some US city with destruction from above. Michael Savage repeatedly asserts that all gays should die of AIDS and folks like Ann Coulter are only sad that the 9/11 terrorists didn’t attack the NY Times building. Michelle Maglalang advocates the internment of US citizens. The list goes on and on.
Frankly, the threat of violence is about all today’s conservative has in his ever-weaker hand.
So, Jadegold, where are the links to the “several instances” of threatened violence that you see every day on Free Republic?
Which are the “usual” sites where violence is advocated?
What are the names of the “GOP Congressmen, RNC talkingheads” who routinely post on FR. And which of them advocated violence?
We all know about O’Reilly and Savage. But that’s not what you claimed.
You got nothing. Put up or STFU.
Tuco- Any idiot can type in those websites and peruse in a matter of minutes; it ain’t no master’s thesis research project, you moron. So you STFU, beeyatch. The “ha-ha, just kidding” advocation of violence both political and personal that has been a mainstay of the right for, well, ever is clearly cited in this thread, not that that matters to a pathetic wretch like yourself. Keep hammering, little stones, your boat is sunk and now it’s time to enjoy the long, slow descent to the bottom. One more thing, all you repug f**ks: get used to it, assholes. You created this game, you gutless shits, so try not to whine too, too much as the shit you’ve layed out comes right back at ya. But that would be assuming maturity and spine. Bunch of pathetic, sad , whining twits.
Steven,
Jadey made the charges. Therefore, the burden of proof is upon him.
Debate 101.
P.S. Just because you can cuss doesn’t necessarily mean you have a point.
“Just because you can cuss doesn t necessarily mean you have a point.”
And just because you cuss doesn’t mean you don’t.
Debate 101.
Really, Brandy? Show us your transcripts. Preferably from an accredited school.
You created this game, you gutless shits
I always laugh at a person sitting behind a computer screen calling people “gutless shits.”
Hey Jade.
AGAIN. Whats worse? A conservative talking about something on Free Republic or your liberal bud Andrew McCrae of Indy Media fame murdering a cop in cold blood. Some of his rhetoric sounded just like yours. What do you think should be done with left wing cop killers, Jade?
Dugger “The truth is that George Bush is risking our soldiers and killing foreign innocents so that he can STEAL OIL.” Sayeth Mr McCrae, cop killer.
Nice try, Dugger. I don’t know who this McCrae guy is, and I don’t give a shit. And honestly, given the garbage spewing track record of the lying right, I’ll believe it when I see it. A cheap logical fallcy (natural connection, natch) doesn’t even come close to excusing Bush’s murderous, unnecessary war, you twit. Our men are dying, going through f**king hell, Iraqi women and children are having their flesh melted off their bones by OUR weapons of mass destruction and you want to play cheap games of semantics? You guys are pathetic. Y’all have been publicly and voluminously spewing your murderous, vitriolic venom for ten, fifteen years now, get off your tiny “hey, you guys do it too” horse and enlist, you slimy rat turd.
I laugh quite frequently at you, Jay C.
Dugger: I think I explained the Andrew Mickel case to you previously. I’ll add these remarks: many Repugs who like to post threats of violence on the internet aren’t capable of harming anyone but themselves; for the most part, they’re fat slobs who would have uncommanded bowel releases if they ever met the targets of their vitriol. The danger, though, is that there are those weak-minded followers who get the notion that since threatening violence is accepted in Repug circles–following through on it must be equally acceptable. That’s when you get your Timmy McVeighs and Eric Rudolphs and the like.
That’s exactly what happened with Pat Buchanan’s brother; he had some mental problems and became convinced by Repug rhetoric that he had to take out an official from our last democratically-elected President’s admin.
And let’s be clear: Repugs like the fascists who came before them understand the power of extremist rhetoric. Hitler and his crew came to power by scapegoating other races and faiths. The GOP does likewise when they try to equate very legitimate policy differences and dissent with being pro-terrorist or anti-American.
Jay, you don’t know me, and given your obvious deficiencies, you never will. Why the hell aren’t YOU over in Iraq fighting this war you see as so necessary? Let’s see, gutless shit, yeah, that about does it. Tell you what, bright boy, you want to get introduced, we can talk about hiding, and, oh, whatever comes up. Till then, your brave buddy sez, STFU.
Jay, you don t know me
Lucky me.
Why the hell aren t YOU over in Iraq fighting this war you see as so necessary?
That’s an intellectually lazy question and seeing as how your comments are limited to grade school ad hominem attacks, it’s pretty typical.
Tell you what, bright boy, you want to get introduced, we can talk about hiding, and, oh, whatever comes up.
Whatever, hero.
I laugh quite frequently at you, Jay C.
Yeah well. Retards are easily amused.
That s exactly what happened with Pat Buchanan s brother; he had some mental problems and became convinced by Repug rhetoric that he had to take out an official from our last democratically-elected President s admin.
This is why you cannot be taken seriously. Because you leave out pertinent facts that make an event more than it was. In other words, you lie. First of all, the person who was threatened was not a Clinton administration official. His name was Cody Shearer, a ‘journalist’ and ‘investigator’ that routinely engaged in dirty tricks on behalf of the former President.
In addition, it had nothing to do with “Repug rhetoric” (Cripes, could you use a more childish insult?) as you falsely claim. Hank Buchanan’s outburst was triggered by none other than Chris Matthews, who fingered Shearer on his show as the mysterious jogger who supposedly intimidated Kathleen Willey by engaging in a conversation with her and knowing way too much about her. Buchanan showed up at Shearer’s house that night.
Repugs like the fascists who came before them understand the power of extremist rhetoric.
Yes, and we know that Democrats never engage in extremist rhetoric. You’re more transparent than plastic wrap.
From The Smoking Gun:
This culture of violence among Democrats must stop!
Which websites? Are there names a secret known only to “progressives?”
And if it only takes the intelligence of an idiot to do so, I can only presume that you and Jadegold fall short of that standard, since you are unable to prove your contention.
From The Gainesville Sun:
This culture of violence among Democrats must stop.
Jade,
Why run from the issue. Be courageous. Andrew McCrae is and was a left wing activist who posted on left wing Internet sites. He spouted a lot of Bush and Republican hate. Took the standard Democratic line on evil corporations etc. And he murdered a cop in cold blood – in the name of his ideology. As always, you are 100% wrong. He was not found insane. He was found guilty. Egg all over your face Jade. So whats worse: ‘my guy’, a freeper who talks BS or ‘your guy’, a leftie poster who murders a cop?

Brandon, surely you do not infer that our government is torturing prisoners at Gitmo?
Buma:
Huh? Having a problem with reading comprehension today?
Cowardly crone Bushbot. Send her to Gitmo.
That was the link from DU.
Buma,
The DU’er who wrote that clearly suggests that it does.
What’s not to understand?
Sorry Brandon, didn’t mean to step on your toes.
Zorro
More reasons why Jay C. can’t be taken seriously:
His name was Cody Shearer, a journalist and investigator that routinely engaged in dirty tricks on behalf of the former President.
No evidence of this. Regardless, does this give license to Repugs coming to Mr. Shearer’s home, slashing the tires on a car, and threatening two people with a firearm?
Apparently so, in Jay C’s world.
No problem, Zorro.
I thought we didnt torture at gitmo? So then, how is saying we should send someone there the same as saying we should torture them?
Trying to dodge and weave again. Just because your last entry was some time ago, your words are still there, so don’t try and change the subject. And you do it here:
Regardless, does this give license to Repugs coming to Mr. Shearer s home, slashing the tires on a car, and threatening two people with a firearm?
Amazing. You get caught spouting more of your nonsense and you try to turn it on me. You were dishonest (again) when you wrote Buchanan “became convinced by Repug rhetoric that he had to take out an official from our last democratically-elected President s admin.”
It wasn’t a Clinton administration official as you claimed, and this man’s actions were brought on by a history of mental illness and because Chris Matthews fingered Shearer as the guy who ‘threatened’ Kathleen Willey.
But somehow pointing out your falsehoods translates to me supporting what Buchanan did.
Only in your warped world.
Holy smokes Zambo. Get a hobby. You killed two-and-a-half hours compiling all that.
