Enemies of The State

The folks at Knight Ridder are guilty. Guilty of practicing journalism. Off to Gitmo for y’all infidels.
ASSERTION: In his speech, Bush noted that “more than a hundred Democrats in the House and the Senate – who had access to the same intelligence – voted to support removing Saddam Hussein from power.”
CONTEXT: This isn’t true.
Journalism is about taking claims and seeking the truth, not just reporting he said and she said then throwing up your hands in confusion.

Now see? That’s liberal bias if I ever saw it.
Just because the President comes right out and says something that happens to be, you know, wrong doesn’t give those smarty pants reporters any reason to point it out.
I like how we conveniently skipped over these points:
And twice…
As far as the “untrue” portion is concerned, I’m sure we can have a nice back-and-forth as to the complete accuracy of that claim. For instance, if the administration had access to more damning (but false) evidence against Iraq that Congress didn’t see, then claiming Congress didn’t get to see all that evidence is irrelevant. They had access to the NIE report of 2002 which contained the dissenting views as well as all the intelligence that existed throughout Clinton’s presidency. Why do I care if they didn’t get to hear the “bogus” and “unproven” claims from the INC exiles?
Guess what? I’m fine with them finding truth among Bush’s forest of lies. It’s what journalists are supposed to do.
Journalism is about taking claims and seeking the truth, not just reporting he said and she said then throwing up your hands in confusion.
Mr Vibrating: No it isn’t.
Man: Yes it is! It’s not just stenography.
Mr Vibrating: Look, if I report, I must say what you said.
Man: Yes, but that’s not just saying ‘This is it’
Mr Vibrating: Yes it is!
Man: No it isn’t!
Man: Journalism is an intellectual process. Stenography is just the automatic reporting of any statement the other person makes.
(short pause)
Mr Vibrating: No it isn’t.
Man: It is.
Mr Vibrating: Not at all.
Man: Now look.
Mr Vibrating: (Rings bell) Good Morning.
You mean the bogus and unproven claims from the INC exiles that the administration was using to make its case all over the airwaves in the nations newspapers?
