GOP discipline is breaking down

House leaders late Wednesday abandoned an attempt to push through a hotly contested plan to open an Alaskan wildlife refuge to oil drilling, fearing it would jeopardize approval of a sweeping budget bill Thursday.

Tom DeLay’s too busy fighting his criminal trial. Usually Bush could whip up support with a tough call from the Oval Office, but when a wingnut like J.D. Hayworth wants the president to stay the hell away from his turf… well, you’ve got a problem.

Typical sentiment: “Since the Republicans have turned into a bunch of whipped puppies, does anybody know if there is a party that actual conservatives can join? Where is Bush? Where are the Bush-bots?”

    Nothing should stand in the way of GOP cuts to Medicare, Welfare, Tuition Programs, and screwing the poor. I mean, really, if they have to let some Caribou or Polar Bears escape genocide so they can get more tax cuts through, dammit, that’s a price they are willing to make the rest of America Pay for them. The tax cut thingy.

    Hey, if the freepers want to go form another conservative party, I say we encourage them. The sooner the better. News flash wingnuts: first past the post voting means you lose every time, just like Nader. Minority parties suck. But, by all means, carry out your threat to leave – I dare ya! :-)

    Anyway, what do these liberals want? The $10 Billion profit the oil industry earned last quarter is mostly for R&D. In fact, most of the profit they earn gets plowed back into new technology.

    You know, like drilling holes in the ground !
