The guys at the Columbia Democrats get a nice write-up of the work they did for Tim Kaine.

 I m a big believer that the Democrats should be a 50-state party competitive in every state, and right now we re not, said Flaxman before the results came in.  If Democrats can consistently win in Virginia, they can win anywhere. It creates a model for Democrats to win in southern states. With Kaine s victory, the first back-to-back Democratic ascension to the Virginia governorship in half a century, comes both a challenge to the commonwealth s Republican tendencies and a validation of the College Democrats efforts.

 I was actually kind of hesitant going into it, said Justine Lai, BC  09,  but I feel like we really did make a difference. … We managed to win over people.

Way to go.

    What does he mean by “first back-to-back Democratic win in the Virginia governorship in half a century”? In 1981 Chuck Robb (D) won the Governorship. In 1985 Gerald Baliles (D) won it. In 1989 Doug Wilder (D) won it. That’s not a half century ago.
