The Right vs. The CIA

I’ve found it intriguing that the right has now decided to respond to Scooter Libby and Karl Rove leaking classified information to the press for political gain by… attacking the Central Intelligence Agency, even to the point of accusing them of plotting a “coup”.

Insert comment about undermining the viability and purpose of the lead intelligence agency of the United States in the middle of a global war on terrorism here.

Wow. That’s the most fact free diatribe I’ve read in a long time. It’s enough to make you think that the hard right would rather destroy every institution of government to protect the Republican Party than face the facts of its own failures. Nah, they would never do that. Right?

Considering that BushCo is made up of those who chose NOT to serve in the military; what would you call their manipulation of intelligence to accomplish their private agenda?

    A chicken coup?

It’s Captain Cubicle’s site–what did you expect? As to this Vox fellow who claims to be a former member of the intelligence community–he’s a joke.

I wonder what Bush the Smarter would think about Vox’s claim the CIA is trying to overthrow Bush the Dimmer?

In Hoover’s day, the entire flood of information nobody wants anyone else to know would be released (a great way for a cross-dressing homosexual to hold on to a job). I think it would be hysterical (both in the funny and insane senses of the word)

If the CIA wanted to ‘overthrow’ Dubya, they’d only have to convince the Justice Dept. to do its job.

This is a Republican Fantasy… The reason we lost the last two elections was about the candidate, not the platform. My caption to this photo. “Man I wish these people would learn to speak english!” Meanwhile, the Right continues to…

Dershowitz may have hit upon the strategy Libby has divined which could be the grease which will enable the weasles to escape unscathed.

He has suggested the special prosecutor position hasn’t any real power, hence, a Potemkin Prosecutor.

Now all of a sudden the left is protective of the CIA? Have the black helicopters landed?

Juan Non-Volokh takes a bit of a stand on torture, but dislikes the comparison of GitMO to a gulag.

Uhh, your premise is 100% wrong. Neither Rove no Libby have been identified as leaking classified.

In fact as each day goes by, additional info comes to light that indicates that Plame was well known to be employed at the CIA well before Novak, Libby, etc. Clearly, clearly, Libby is being charged with committing crimes as part of the process of investigating a non-crime. Clealry, clearly, the Democrats care much less about good intelligence and a lot more about getting Republicans.

Waaait a minute — Nothing is happening with Novak — you don’t suppose he’s a covert CIA agent?
