Aided by their propagandist friends at the Washington Times, the Republicans are trying to innoculate the underwhelming Michael Steele from criticism with cries of racism. It would be funny if it wasn’t so pathetically transparent. Michael Steele is a Republican tool, who sees nothing wrong with attending a segregated club or supporting fiscal policies that hurt Maryland’s black and minority communities disproportionately. It’s not racial to point that out… it’s factual.
’)
So pelting him with cookies and drawing him as a minstrel are fair game?
Cookies? Not just any ol cookie eh Danny?
State Sen. Lisa A. Gladden, a black Baltimore Democrat, said “Party trumps race…” She said, “If you are bold enough to run, you have to take whatever the voters are going to give you. It’s democracy, perhaps at its worse, but it is democracy.”
Delegate Salima Siler Marriott, a black Baltimore Democrat, said Mr. Steele invites comparisons to a slave who loves his cruel master or a cookie that is black on the outside and white inside because his conservative political philosophy is, in her view, anti-black.
Sickening.
For the life of me, I can’t see how any of you here can condone this type of behavior. It may be “factual” to point out instances where you disagree with his approach to certain policies, but to use blatantly racist imagery and slurs is completely counter-productive. And before the shouting match starts, I’m not even considering what those “policies that hurt Maryland s black and minority communities disproportionately” are. Its just rather hypocritical to castigate your opponents for dirty tricks, vicous attacks, and smears, and to use examples of such in an attempt to prove the inherrant evil of Republicans, and then not only condone, but in OW’s case, actively participate in the same type of behavior.
Future campaign slogan:
Michael Steele: He makes his opponents toss their cookies.
Calling him Uncle Tom and throwing Oreos at him, illegally obtaining his credit report. Whats the problem, huh, OW.
Dugger
Whats doubly ironic, is that we were recently informed on this same site that describing a black person as articulate was racist.
Dugger
Isnt there just a bit of hypocrisy here? Blacks crying racism against a black? I thought blacks couldnt be accused of racism…
Seems like the folks who wish for racism to die a quick and painful death are the very ones who keep the horrid practice alive and well. Its high time to pull the plug on racism, MLK would roll over in his grave at the sight of this offense.
Anyone who condones this behavior in Maryland, IS THE RACIST and needs to go back and read MLKs speech again…just as I would suggest for anyone in Maryland or in the DNC who condones this horrific attack.
No matter if Steele is a pawn of the Right, he deserves to be treated as a human being, not so much spittle.

It would be significant…if the Washtimes story was true…it wasn’t. None of the quotes actually fit with the fantasy text, take a notice actually read it and you’ll know what I mean…or, if anyone threw oreo cookies at steele, which never happened…or if the idiot in New York with the racist blog had anything to do with Maryland Democrats, he doesn’t….or if….well you get the idea….
Steele is clearly more comfortable running as a victim than as a Republican. Anyone pay attention to his announcement? No mention of Bush or the Republican Party. I wonder why.
Yes… those wascally Republicans.. have they no shame? They should be pelting Steele with the Oreo Cookies just like the Left! For them to criticize the racist actions of the Left is racist… b/c you know… Steele isn’t black and “the party comes first”.
You just know that Steele would join the Klan in a full-up display of self-hatred if they’d allow him in.
So, either he’s a self-hating black man who’s being used by the wascally republicans, or he’s someone who’s formed his own opinions which are counter to those of the “black leadership” which the author of this site referred to as “no better than hustlers, bigots, and crooks”. The author further went on to hope that other black leaders might emerge who “believe in improving the lives of black Americans, and America in general, but the media keeps giving time to the Axis of Irrelevancy.”
Perhaps he was referring to Mr. Steele? Oh, wait… he has that nasty “R” after his name. He doesn’t count!

What a sleazy hack job from the Wash Times. Lookit:
Wow! Lisa’s really getting down in the mud, saying it’s OK for Dems to make “racial jabs” and all! So what did she say?
Hunh. She doesn’t say anything at all about “racial jabs.” Must be an editing problem. Anyway, there’s this…
Now we’re cooking. Salima says it’s, like, cool to call Steele a slave and a bootlicker, and an Oreo. Wow!
Show us the quote!
Well, that could mean that she thinks it’s OK to call him an Oreo. Saying he’s “different” probably means the same thing, even if she didn’t come right out and, you know, say it.
