In short, this morning’s is an intemperate essay, quite extraordinary and unpersuasive. But like most of the arrows being fired at Miers now, it was not intended to persuade anyone at all but rather to inflame the anti-Miers crowd into a great frenzy of head-nodding murmuring.
If the rumor is correct that someone, Hadley or HannaH, has flipped — and I think the palindrome guy was born to flip — then there is more than one circular firing squad operating here. Schadenfreude city.
I suppose there was good reason, at least in Fitzpatrick’s mind, why he kept his investigation quiet and mostly dormant during the 2004 election year. Too bad he was so even-handed about it.
