USA Out Of Iraq

9:10 pm EST October 10th, 2005 | News | 10 Comments

So says America.

Public support for U.S. involvement in Iraq continues to fall. By two to one, Americans reject financing the war through an increased federal deficit, and 62% would finance paying for the rebuilding of the Gulf Coast by cutting spending in Iraq.

More than half of Americans think Iraq is not secure enough to hold its constitutional referendum in just under a week, and many doubt that country will ever become a stable democracy.

A fat lot of good Bush’s insipid speech last week did.

The Republicans think that our grandchildren should fund the war in Iraq. America doesn’t think so.

    This is fun!

  2. neoconsrloopy says:

See, Quaker, this is why we lose elections. We don’t have the same experience that they do in caricaturing the opposition. I will work on them.

“Some people think that Iraqi’s are more deserving of our tax dollars than Americans in need. We think otherwise.”

“Some people think that a blastocyst is more deserving of life than poor black people in New Orleans. Democrats think otherwise.”

Getting closer? Am willing to learn at your feet.

The Republicans think that our grandchildren should not exist. America doesn t think so.

  4. neoconsrloopy says:

Harriet Myers thinks that Hillary Clinton is a fine choice for NY Senator. I agree.

  5. Quaker in a Basement says:

No, no neo. You’re not quite getting the hang of it.

First you attribute something crazy to “some people,” or “some who think that…” then you kick that strawman all to flinders.

  6. midderpidge says:

President Bush thinks the army should be ground down by insurgency attacks in Iraq. America thinks he’s wrong.

  7. Quaker in a Basement says:

By George, I think he’s got it!

  8. Oliver says:

Actually you’ve got to dumb it down.

“Some people think our soldiers outta die in Iraq, I think they should be killing terrorists”

  9. neoconsrloopy says:

“Some people think that a 12-year old rape victim should be forced to bear the rapists baby. That’s insane.”

  10. Frank_D says:

I think there might be a possibility for an “abortion compromise”:

Abortions would be permitted if, and only if:

    1) The mother might die giving birth; or due to a medical condition during pregnancy

    2) The conception is the result of rape or incest, and the prospective mother is below the age of majority in her state, and her parents have decided she shouldn’t keep the baby. (If the prospective mother is above the age of majority, then she can decide)

    3) If if it can be demonstrated to the satisfaction of a judge in Court that the prospective mother is either incompetent or unfit to be a mother. Then the Court may allow the mother to consider having an abortion.

To permit abortion on demand (including minors without parental consent) is insane.
