Dumb is just a state of mind for you. I’ve told you that you can set the tone on this board, but you obviously don’t have the inclination. That’s fine, but your alter egos on this board shouldn’t complain when they post offerings like the following complaining about the lack of substantial debate:

I was listening to the Laura Ingraham show on the way home last night, the whole first 1/2 hour of the show (I didn t hear the rest) was Democrats are stupid , Look at the stupid things the Democrats say , etc, etc. No discussion of how the con way is better.

They infantilize their opponents, so that the simple minded (frankie and friends) dismiss them without considering the content of their ideas. Because that debate, they will lose.”

I think that it is natural for anyone to use opinion from the right/left to back up their respective point of view, however, if all you can bring to the fight is “Cons Are Stupid”, why have the fight at all? You surely can’t settle anything and you’re not contributing anything to the “national dialogue”. Think about it.

Sorry I hurt your feelings. While you may think that Gore is brilliant and visionary that isn’t necessarily what makes an effective leader or politician. Just look at Carter and Woodrow Wilson. Wilson is probably the most intellectually accomplished president in the 20th century and many people (although I think less and less as the years go by) feel that Jimmy Carter had an excellent mind. As it turns out, neither was a very effective poliician and both left the white house under a cloud of great failure. Al Gore’s message obviously did not resonate with the right wing but why not the large moderate/centrist segment of the population? You and the others on the left on this board should look at more than just how the message was presented and look at the message itself. When AG ran away from Clinton he also ran away from the “Safe, Legal, and Rare” abortion stance of the DLC. Why did he do that when it was so effective at keeping the hounds at bay in the Clinton years? Many people think that the Democrat party is beholden to too many masters and they felt that the would not get the NARAL and NOW voting block (which went to Nader anyway) unless they went all out towards the “abortion at any cost” wing of the party. This is just an example of the way the Democrat party has been pulled in the past three decades. IMO it is getting worse, not better, but we will see come primary season next year.

Now, that wasn’t so bad. I din’t insult you one time in that post. What is your opinion regarging the ‘06 primary season.

Zorro, You are the ants at the picnic. You are the troll. So I’m not going to waste my time “refuting” you, a simple “blow me” is all the retort you and the other trolls deserve.

Al Gore is a brilliant, visionary man. It is unfortunate that, even though he did get the majority of the vote, and would have won Florida easily if not for vote suppresion shenanigans, that his words didn’t resonate with a larger majority in 2000.

I have a slogan for Gore ‘08: “Gore. Because we told you so.”

All along I’ve been saying Republicans are evil, not dumb. This thread has me reconsidering a lot. AEI is crappy, so is Heritage. There are other nonpartisan sources of research that would hold much more water, linking to them is like me using The Nation as the gauge of opinion for middle America. And what the heck does Media Matters have to do with it? We back our items up with these things called facts. Look into it.

All the Gore bashers here are trying to point out what the democrats did wrong to lose in 2000 and 2004.

Are you rational in any sense of the word?

Is there any credible advice your side could give to this argument designed to ‘help’ democrats win in 2008?

Back to the thread, Al Gore has a habit of stretching the truth in the past. I think that is the case again. http://www.usnews.com/usnews/opinion/baroneblog/columns/barone_051007b.htm I have always thought that Barone was a moderate voice that most times leaned somewhat to the right, but has not hesitated to disagree with either side at times.
