We’re For Good Stuff

I give a lot of kudos to Daily Kos and the blogosphere, but they probably shouldn’t be in the business of political sloganeering (and neither should George Lakoff).

Thought that was good analysis by Klein. If you are into sloganeering, a Democratic slogan has got to have something in it that will associate the slogan with Democrats in the public’s mind. And it just can’t be a give away type thing like “free health care”. Or a total negative: “No More Iraqs”. I would try to find an angle (if the Democrats paid me as much as Mr Rove does) that emphasizes the future and the positive aspects therefor (thereby cleverly, but not obviously associating us mean ol Rs with the past).

I’m not buying Ezra’s criticism; after all, GOP “family values” appears to be nothing more than “we hate gays and people who aren’t white or Xtian.”
Lower taxes? Sure—but what’s missing is that the GOP is sending the bill to your kids and grandkids.
And as for “strong national defense”–can we stop pretending the administration that brought us 9/11 and the quagmire in Iraq is “strong?”
I gave them a slogan they can use for free:
Democrats: We spend your like it’s ours!
Duggers ideas are consistent with past posts.
It’s not enough just to Hate Bush.
You have to hate the venal acts that define corruption.
Then a platform that resonates will magically appear. Line up those linked ideas with that slogan; you have a winner.
Or the Mantra of the current administration

Actually, Frank, that was responded to by the Fabulous David E:
Republicans: We spend your money so you won’t be able to.
Not sure I entirely agree. My concern with your post is that you seemed to be attacking the exercise instead of the result. (Maybe I’m wrong on that score, but it seemed that way). I agree, the result looks like flailing. But the exercise, in my mind, is important.
Good point, Oliver. I mean, after all, nationally Democrats have done such a FABULOUS job framing their messages over the last four election cycles.
Sheesh.
No they haven’t – and this is more of the same.
Desert Rat;
Not sure what linguistic acrobatics you are engaged inwhen you say:
“attacking the exercise instead of the result.”
If you are suggesting that, although you believe in the principle ‘the end justifies the means.’ you somehow think it is immoral for Wilbur to practice (as a political party) in ths same tactics that have been such a ‘miserable failure’ for your side?
If that is not what you said, say so.
