John Roberts Has Garbage!

“Gaggle” is like the Cal Ripken of unfunniness. It shows up every day, and refuses to be even remotely funny. First ballot hall of fame.

I think the big problem with conservative humor is that they only ever make fun of other people. The best humor is almost always self-critical.
Man, it’s like seeing that stupid Mallard Fillmore strip, only for the Gaggle, I don’t have to pay 50 cents a day for it.
Come on, conservatives, we know you can be funny! Just look at Dan Quayle!
I will say, however, that there haven’t really been many funny liberal comics. Doonesbury’s only funny when it’s not addressing political issues. Besides, politics doesn’t really belong on the comics pages.
One of the strips had CNN with a Wolf Blitzer like fellow- are they implying that Wolf Blitzer is liberal? What color is the sky in their world?
Boondocks is usually pretty funny, even when Aaron is political. The Flagee and Ribbon series from after 9/11 is gold.
Comics mostly suck. I don’t really think this Modern World is very funny, though I think the guy’s sharp and I agree with his politics. I think that Ruben Bolling’s strip is probably the only one that’s funny and liberal of which I’m aware.
Check out “Get Your War On” in Rolling Stone. Hilarious.
Comics mostly suck.
Everything mostly sucks.
What gets me about “Gaggle” is that the executives of the “Media Research Center” were probably sitting around one day and said to themselves, “You know what we need? We need a comic strip!” Can’t they just be happy to do what they’re good at and not try to break into an area in which they’re untalented?
Reminds me of when Nixon hired Dave Segretti to duplicate the gentle, humorous pranks that Dick Tuck played on him.
Nixon completely missed the pixie-ish humour of Tuck’s pranks, and had Segretti off hiring hookers and bugging offices and shit.
Something about that right-wing, stiff-backed, macho, squared-away, intensely-competitive, right-wing attitude. You can’t be funny if you take yourself so seriously. When they try to to humour it comes off as either sadism, or, if they try to soft-pedal it, as “uh, I don’t get it”.
Sorry. The Wagnerian Winners just don’t do funny as well as us geeky, intellectual misfits.
