Redskins? No, We Can’t Do Anything The Easy Way

Mark Brunnell is the starter

Gibbs on Monday informed starter Patrick Ramsey, who suffered a sprained neck in the second quarter of Sunday’s victory over the Chicago Bears, that he will be replaced by Mark Brunell when the Redskins face the Dallas Cowboys next Monday night. The move came incredibly quick even by Gibbs standards, and followed weeks of public support for Ramsey, the team’s first-round choice in the 2002 draft.

“This is something that is extremely hard,” Gibbs said Monday. “You don’t like doing this. I don’t. Sometimes you don’t chart the circumstances or what happens — it just happens. Certainly it wasn’t the plan I had going in, but sometimes plans change, and I think you do the best you can in dealing with it.”

And Patrick Ramsey is asking to be traded. It’s only week one, wheeeeeeeeeee.

Kee-rist.

Seriously, OW, this is unbelievable. How many weeks did we have to suffer through Brunell last year before Ramsey gets a chance? And honestly, I thought Ramsey (though not spectacular) looked pretty good on Sunday — he was actually able to get the ball down the field, which Brunell didn’t seem to be able to do (surprise surprise). I know everybody was talking about how much better Brunell looked in pre-season, but I wasn’t impressed, really. What is it with Gibbs and this guy? ARGHHH!!

The game i was watching ramsey had 2 turnovers in just over a quarter. Also, Brunell’s longest completion was longer than ramsey’s. Ramsey never should have been made the starter this season. Brunell performed better throughout the preseason. It’s pretty clear that Ramsey isn’t going to work out here, he needs to be on a different team. The Skins could get something for him in a trade, maybe a 1st round pick. The ravens could definitely use him.

They should just start Campbell and see if he’s the guy or not. I’m tired of the QB nonsense.

Wow, as much as I want the ‘Skins to win (cause I’ve lived in DC for 31/2 years now), it seems that this team hasn’t learned ANYTHING from last year. Everyone in that organization knew that starting Ramsey was a big mistake and yet they let the drama continue on. Geez.

    Thank God for Peyton Manning.

It’s hard to fault Ramsey for coughing up the ball on the injury play. The interception didn’t look good. But on some of those third downs he winged the ball in there with some zip on it. Brunell looked about the same as last year — he looked good in the preseason going against the 2nd team defenses. I’m with Oliver, put in Campbell. He may win half as many games as Brunell, but at least he provides what Ramsey provided (and though it’s been quite diminished, still provides to some degree) and Brunell can’t: hope for the future. It’s sad to put things this way, but when does the Wizards season start?
