How typical of Oliver’s childish musings. He complains when he feels they do not show enough concern, and complains when they show concern.
JD, there are ways of showing concern that do not involve shutting down six blocks in every direction. 4-5 secret armed service agents are more than sufficient to provide security for these VIP’s. What possible threat would require this level of paranoia? The other day, helicopter relief flights were suspended while Bush was in the area. That’s not security. It is overkill.
You are joking, right?
Just in case, follow along (and I’ll try to use small words):
There is a big difference between “showing concern” by making meaningless public displays that result in real relief operations being hampered, and in “showing concern” by doing your f–king job and taking a leadership role in mobilizing federal aid before it’s too late for thousands who could have been saved had you done so.
Got that? (If you were being ironic, and making fun of those who would make such a childishly off-base attempt at sarcasm, then I apologize.)
How is holding up relief operations to put on a show for the cameras “showing concern?”
Alex, pray tell exactly what job the First Lady plays in this? Last week Oliver was whining that President Bush went to Washington DC instead of the affected areas. Many noted that there is nothing that the President could have done by going to the affected areas, and rightly so. However, we were told that at times like this it is important for the victims to see their leaders on the ground. Then, when they do go, their security is criticized. I was pointing out the classic damned if you do, damned if you don’t scenario that the lefties have constructed for this. Nice work.
Indeed. Clearly there are no areas nearby that she could have gone to that wouldn’t have hampered relief efforts. JD’s got your number on this one, Alex.
Geez, these trolls are so tiresome…
