Reality Invalidates Conservative Ideology, Part 3
Tweet
In Republican Utopia, when you’re in the process of drowning the government, it’s best to help that along by appointing your cronies to high ranking positions. That way you kill two birds with one stone: you get a fat government job for your pal, and you task him (or, occasionally, her) with dismantling the agency in question.
Meet Mike “Brownie” Brown, the head of FEMA
The federal official in charge of the bungled New Orleans rescue was fired from his last private-sector job overseeing horse shows.
And before joining the Federal Emergency Management Agency as a deputy director in 2001, GOP activist Mike Brown had no significant experience that would have qualified him for the position.
For the caterwauling jacknapes who are sitting haunched over their keyboards, ready to whine “liberal media”, I’ll note that this story comes from the pro-Bush anti-Kerry/Kennedy Boston Herald.
Because even some members of the conservative media have to report reality on occasion.

Bush keeps recycling his cronies into new posts because he doesn’t know anyone. Or, if he knows more people, he doesn’t trust them to keep his dark secrets.
The malevolence with which power is wielded from this shallow and duplicitous crew makes Nixon look presidential. I do not know if americans can stomach another impeachment inquiry, but I don’t think these perps will ever leave unless forced out of town.
Every president recycles personnel from prior administrations of the same party.
I think our heads are about to explode, OW. Check this out:
“This is not the time to give a weak performer the benefit of the doubt. The FEMA director’s role in the ongoing recovery effort is too important to be entrusted to a clueless political hack with such poor judgment.
Rather than praise Michael Brown, Bush should fire him.”

This is from Michelle Malikin?!
Sorry, I forgot you guys don’t like to talk about the dark Carter days. But did you forget about Secretary of State Warren Christopher? He was Deputy Sec’y of State for Carter and even a Deputy Attorney General for LBJ. One guy wipes out all your bullshit at once.
Mike Brown isn’t “personnel from prior administrations,” he’s a hack. He got his job because he was Joe Allbaugh’s college roommate. He has no experience in the Federal government or in disaster relief. You wouldn’t put a Republican fundraiser in charge of the army, would you? Bush should be impeached for giving an incompetent hack like that such responsilibities.
I’ll give you another – Robert Altman, Clinton’s Deputy Treasury Secretary and Carter’s Assistant Treasury Secretary.
I’m sure there are more. My point stands. Sorry.
Really, Hedley? Which of Clintons appointees came from the Carter administration? Which of Carters came from LBJ?
Talking out of your ass again, Hedley?
