Does McCain also support the teaching of the Flying Spaghetti Monster (wiki it) as the Intelligent Designer? He should.

I have my own intelligent design theory. See, I may have s#!t for brains, but the intelligence back there is so unfathomable that the universe could only have come out of my butt. The universe is amazing and well-organized (physics and chemistry and all), therefore, it must have come out of my butt. I firmly believe this - it should be obvious and just stands to reason.
TEACH THE CONTROVERSY!!!

While I kind of hate to spell it out, this is a very rich little joke. First, it brings "s#!t for brains" into the picture. Second, it implies that IDers, at the point when they stop looking to science and say, "therefore, God" are just pulling whatever they please out of their behinds. And, finally, it follows that the proper way to praise the creator is to kiss my butt :-) That part wasn't originally intended, but a piquant little result just the same.
(FYI, I also put this most of this response into Scott Rosenburg's blog on salon, but got the impression that nobody read it...)

MiniPundit pointed out yesterday that McCain is NOT a moderate. The amazing thing is that the Republicans made such an extreme conservative seem moderate or even liberal. In fact McCain was rated 0% by the ACLU, indicating an anti-civil rights voting record. (Dec 2002)

i don't have a problem with creationism myths being taught in social studies.

The problem arises when it's taught in/as science.
