Only 38% of the people in Missouri approve of the job George Bush has done. And he’s down across the board.

And he carried Missouri in the last election. Most of the people who voted for Bush did so because of the abortion issue. It sure wasn’t because of the mess he got us into in Iraq. I know who still approve of the job he is doing. The top 1% who got the big tax cut. I am just a poor old working man whose taxes just keep going up. I know several millionaires who have not paid income taxes in years. I bet I know who they voted for.

Among pro-life Missourians, support for Bush has dropped 9 points since June, from 66% to 57%. That is not a very high approval rating from the Christian Right in a Christian Right state. Even in the extremely pro-GOP Ozarks, Bush’s approval/disapproval is tied at 49. His approval plunged in Central Missouri. In KC it’s steadily awful and in STL it’s dropped from bad to terrible. Note also that among Republicans overall, support has dropped to an all-time low at 75%. Among moderates and Independents, Bush is getting creamed. These numbers show that Bush has had a terrible beginning to his second term. And that John Kerry was a terrible candidate for purple state like Missouri.

“Most of the people who voted for Bush did so because of the abortion issue” ?! What pure an unadulterated nonsense.

I’d say it was a whole slew of social issues, from baby-killin’ to dem dar homasectuals.

I live in Oklahoma and we used to be a heavily Democratic state. The religious right, including over 90% of all people who attend church, were encouraged to vote for all Republicans because most Republicans are Pro Life. They are against all abortions. They are supposed to be against stem cell research which justifies their Pro Life stance. That is why there was a record turnout of voters in the last election. Bush won the election because of Pro Life.

If Roe v Wade is overturned, and I doubt that it will be, the Republicans would have a hard time winning elections. So as long as abortion remains legal, the Republicans will continue winning more elections.

I, like almost everyone in this country, am against abortion. I personally think it is wrong. But I also don’t think that the government should tell a woman that she cannot have an abortion. If I need an operation that could save my life, but would cause me to be permanently disabled, I don’t want the government telling me I can’t have the operation.
