Gaggle Funny Watch: Still Waiting
Tweet
I’m still waiting for Gaggle, Media Research Center’s comic strip on its blog to be funny. At this point, I’d settle for a chuckle. C’mon, you guys are supposed to be the party of South Park – where’s the funny?

That strip just makes me sad and achy. That’s probably not what they were after.
dorky so far…
What makes this comic so not funny is the fact that it tries to be satire, yet the satire relies on a false premise that exists only because it is perpetuated by conservatives- that the media is overwhelmingly treehugging liberal. We have these rabid press corps members (ha!) and a lucid, suave press secretary. In reality we have a lapdog gaggle and a press secretary that stammers through his finely tuned talking points. And this is the administration of media manipulation- we have seen Jeff Gannon, Armstrong Williams, and those fake Medicare newscasts brought up in the past few years. So they have that not going for them. Oh yeah, and other than that, the “jokes” are absolutely atrocious. I tested whether or not is was my own bias that prevented me from seeing the humor by reversing ideological roles of the characters but still- not funny. Hey lets see if i can write a strip.
There you have it. One edition of Gaggle. It took me about 2 minutes to write.
jp,
Would it be possible for a comic strip which believed (as I most assuredly do) and promulgated the assumption that the press is biased to the left to be funny – in your eyes or anyone of the left’s eyes? I have laughed at Boondocks (in spite of the sometimes vitriol) but have never thought Gary Trudeau is in any way funny. Maybe I would if he agreed w/me. The point would be “who expects any one on the left to think a pointed conservative ideological comic is funny” – almost by definiton.

“That’s gold, Johnny, Gold!”
In my best Kenny Banya voice. We should have a “Gaggle” comic strip writing contest on the blog.
Maybe the reference to “Head Correspondent” is some obscure Clintonian Blowjob joke.
If the comic was actually successful in execution, like say for instance, had punchlines, I would be able to suspend disbelief and find it funny. Do you find Gaggle funny? And if so, which strips really tickle your funnybone?

“Do you find Gaggle funny?”
Don’t laugh; have never read it. I like Brewster Rockit Space Guy, Get Fuzzy (liberal slant IMO), Pearls Before Swine.
