Hackett On Limbaugh

A marine responds to Limbaugh’s nonsense

That’s typical for that fatass drug addict to come up with something like that. There’s a guy … I didn’t hear this, but actually when I was on drill this weekend, I’ve got to tell you, he lost a lot of Republican supporters with his comments. Because they were coming up to me, telling me, “I can’t believe he said that! Besides that, he called you a soldier. He doesn’t know the difference between a soldier and a marine!”

Rush is like Bush in a way. When the facts, experience or honesty are placed before them, they have to either ignore it, smear it, or be disengenuos. Look at Sheenan in Crawford. She is being smeared by Neo cons (even real conservatives didn’t stoop this low), ignored by the president because he only trusts his intution( I guess if she voted for him or gave his son a cross like PUtin’s mom did then “She’s alllrgight in my book:) and not the facts or reality. Again, conservatives like Limbaugh and Pres. Bush DO NOT support troops. How can you support someone if you can’t even relate to thier experience?

Though amid all the smoking horror and diabolism of a sea-fight, sharks will be seen longingly gazing up to the ship’s decks, like hungry dogs round a table where red meat is being carved, ready to bolt down every killed man that is tossed to them . . . Moby Dick

This guy is a treasure. Not only does he have the balls and the wit to strike back at blowhards, he has the experience to back it up.

    Who is Paul Hackett?

    (No, really, I’m serious.)

  4. Gravatar Icon 4 Mouse

This is Paul Hackett. He ran for Congress in a largely Republican district in Ohio and gave the favoured Republican candidate a run for her money.

Look..instead of constantly complaining about Rush, why don’t we all do something about it?

I’ll tell you why. The guy has proven impervious to two fairly major events that shoud really have ended his career:

1.) Remarkably stupid statements regarding one of the top 5 QB’s in the game. Donovan McNabb.

2.) Proven issues of drug abuse.

He’s fairly well connected in the GOP power structure, and his long-time loyal listeners will follow him off a cliff. Add that to the fact that he’s probably making some $$ for whoever it is he works for (and their sponsors). He’s an icon of the right. Add this to the fact that he’s very careful about putting himself out there for criticism and exposure, and youv’e got a real problem on your hands.

I’d LOVE to see the guy go down. But what are you going to do that he hasn’t already done to himself, people? As long as he’s got a microphone in his face, he’ll continue to be the mouthpiece for the GOP, do anything and say anything to keep the GOP in the driver’s seat by rallying the troops.

Does he lie? Yes. Is he unethical? Yes. Is he a hypcocrite? Yes. Have any of those long-standing characteristics of Rush ever resulted in him being anyhing other than popular?

About the only possible way to run this guy out of town would be a massive, coordinated effort to boycott any product that advertises on his radio show. And even that would probably fail, because boycots hardly ever succeed. It would be a blip on the radar screen.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news….I’m resigned to the fact that we’re just gonna be stuck with the blowhard until he retires.

Rush is the King of talk radio!

Hackett goes off the deep end and effectively ends his chances for a serious follow on run. His nasty remarks about the Commander in Chief and this blow hard stuff will be remembered by both sides. Unfortunately for Hackett, the Hamilton County people remembering won’t like it and will vote against him. I can just see the next Republican ad: “Paul hackett in the closing days of his last run used the presdient’s words in his ad, but did you know what he sadi beforehand about the Commander in Chief. here are his words about talk show host Rush Limbaugh. Does this man really bring conservative Hamilton County values tot he table?”

    Shorter Dugger and SaveFarris: WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!

Anyhow SaveFarris: Try following up on that AirAmerica story you moron…you’d be suprised at how ignorant your own statement is. Well…maybe not.

    Shorter Mr. Curmudgeon:
I’m going to harange away now so that I can conviently forget who actually won the election. It eases the pain that way…

Perhaps you can enlighten me, mr. curmudgeon:

**Is Gloria Wise still in business?
**If not, might they still be had they not lent $875K to AirAmerica/Evan Cohen?
**If, after conducting “forensic accounting months ago”, it had been proven that AirAmerica did not receive any of the Gloria Wise money, why would the NYC DOI be demanding the money be placed in an Escrow account until their investigation is complete? Couldn’t AAR simply show DOI this “forensic accounting”?
**If this was done “months ago” as Mr. Franken admits in multiple statements, why did AAR’s first statement deny any knowledge of the investigation?

I can just see the next Republican ad: Paul hackett in the closing days of his last run used the presdient s words in his ad, but did you know what he sadi beforehand about the Commander in Chief.”

Man….you are reeeeeeeally gone. Seriously out there. Did you drop acid with Duyba back in the day?

LOL!!!! ROFLMAO!!!! The only people who’ll care are you kool-aid drinkers. It won’t be long before “W” is the large scarlet letter for all you cultists that still support the “Vacationer-in-Chief”…it’ll be a boon for Hackett to have been the first to have called a spade a spade. Look for more of this sort of thing as the treasonous behavior of this administration continues to come to light.

In fact, I’ll hazard a guess that Bush won’t appear in ANY of the ‘08 Rethug commericals…as the serious contenders in the GOP are ALREADY distancing themselves from this lame duck.

Farris, you’re not trying to change the subject, are you?

  11. Gravatar Icon 11 Dugger

“Look for more of this sort of thing as the treasonous behavior of this administration continues to come to light.”

Yes, we know you agree with Hacket’s left wing extremism. Unfotunately for you, it won’t be the wide wide world of Daily Kos posters voting yea or nay on him. It will be Hamilton County. He had a chance to look sane and balanced, blew it. The Democratic Party, ever lurching to the left, has given the kids the car keys and thrown in a bottle of old Crow for good measure. The only question is whether Hillary continues to give eviednce of moving right in the face of this furious infantilism.

Farris’ comments ar a microcosm of the current righty blogosphere: “AIRAMERICASCANDALAIRAMERICASCANDALAIRAMERICASCANDAL!” Low Bush Poll numbers? AIRAMERICASCANDALAIRAMERICASCAND ALAIRAMERICASCANDAL! Karl Rove? AIRAMERICASCANDALAIRAMERICASCANDAL…

And for the people who try and play down every shady event in the Bush Administration that takes place by claiming it won’t resonate with the people…. take a step back and really re-examine this doosie of a nonstory.

I’m saying that Hackett blew it by going hard core - spewing the hate: “fat*ss drug addict”. I’m saying he could have gone mainstream and eschewed the Dean-esque rhetoric and had a chance in Hamilton County next time - appearing to be a just a conservative marine who happens to be a D - but now he sounds like a vanilla leftist hater and those words and his earlier venom against Bush will be used against him next time.

  14. Gravatar Icon 14 johnnyprogressive

Dugger, I’m unclear how Hackett “blew” anything given the margin he lost by. Bush carried that same district by double digits just 10 months ago. That would be like Newt Gingrich running for mayor of San Francisco, losing by a 4 point margin, and liberals gloating how he blew that race.

  15. Gravatar Icon 15 Quaker in a Basement

Dugger, are you saying that Hackett made himself less viable as a candidate because he called Rush Limbaugh a “fatass drug addict”?

    Haw.

  16. Gravatar Icon 16 Quaker in a Basement

The Democratic Party, ever lurching to the left, has given the kids the car keys and thrown in a bottle of old Crow for good measure.

You mean that figuratively, don’t you? The car-keys-and-whiskey guy is already in the White House.

  17. Gravatar Icon 17 JD

The keys and whiskey guy is still spewing his self-righteous moral indignation as the senior Senator from Massachusetts.

  18. Gravatar Icon 18 johnnyprogressive

    Dugger,

I’m pretty sure the only people who will care, or even recall for that matter, what Hackett said about Limbaugh (who is pretty unlikeable outside of his cult of personality) already know how theyre going to vote next time around. You seem to have a knee-jerk reaction anytime a Dem says anything remotely offensive, conluding that “this is why you lose elections. Such hateful rhetoric!”

  19. Gravatar Icon 19 dugger1

    Quaker nad JD,

Actually the keys and whiskey thing originated with PJ O’Rourke.

    JP,

“You seem to have a knee-jerk reaction anytime a Dem says anything remotely offensive”

You are saying that on OW.com right? A criticism of a conservative poster. Well I learned it watching OW.

But you may be right about the “safety” in harshly attacking Limbaugh, but I believe and can’t prove it at all, that Hackett got a lot of consideration in Hamilton because people saw the marine side of the man and not the strident left wing politician side. What I’m really saying is that the more he sounds like Hodean, with harsh rheotric against individuals, the more it will ‘obscure the marine and highlight the Hodean’.

No doubt. However, I was referencing a well-publicized youthful indiscretion of Mr. President.

What I m really saying is that the more he sounds like Hodean, with harsh rheotric against individuals, the more it will obscure the marine and highlight the Hodean .

Let’s recall that Mr. Hackett was returning fire at someone who had denigrated his service as that of a “staff puke.” Calling him a fatass drug addict was actually quite generous.

  22. Gravatar Icon 22 Dugger

    Quaker,

And I’m talkin about harsh rhetoric from a man who would, ostensibly, like to get elected in conservative Hamilton County OHoHo. Such rhetoric is fine for Al Franken or Rush but is it wise for a man who needs to get votes from lots of Limbaugh listeners and later will/could represent those listeners. And without getting into a lot of detail, it isn’t particularly insulting to be called a “staff puke”. I was a staff puke for a while and a “toad”. It is how we often, half-deprecatingly, refer to ourselves and our higher HQ desk jobs. The more important part there is “staff” not “puke”.
