Now by a leak, I mean someone letting it out on purpose - for a purpose. How double-nought Val's name FIRST got out there we don't know: maybe Evil G. Rove, Perp Walk Wilson, their next door neighbor, Val herself or who knows. But maybe it was common knowledge in certain unclasiified circles by the time Novak's column was about to hit.
