Wow. First and foremost it is amazing that Rove is held in such high regard even though he is a “political advisor” i.e. I will humiliate, destroy or discredit any person, issue, or thing that stands in my path so that I can win. These sort of people are about the lowest dregdes of society. I think most of the Sweet-Tea brigade on this blog don’t understand that this is more than some liberal cabal trying to gain political points. It all ties into the pet project of Iraq and Republicans need to never admit fault. My hopes aren’t up. This administration can blatantly lie better than Reagan ever could. At least when Reagan said “I don’t know” a sliver of doubt would say: Maybe he is that dumb and oblivious? To impeach a Republican president or at least hold him accountable would have to involve them….

Neo, I’ve lost track of all the rationales and consipracy theories being peddled over the last couple of days. When the Rove story broke a couple of weeks ago, I was eager to see the miserable little man get the boot (though something tells me it wont happen). I have however gleaned new joy from this, and that is the seemingly neverending stream of Republicans who are twisting themselves into pretzels to try and defend Rove. Some deny he did anything, some admit he did something but it wasnt that important, and some, as you have pointed out, believe this is actually grand Machavellian maneuvering on Wilsons part. And with all these Republicans taxing us with their convoluted logic, some on this thread actaully deny there is a scandal. They then repeat this to themselves while they massage their temples and watch Fox News.

Its an honest opinion from Oliver that this is a distraction. Bush could have waited for the time when he said he would announce it, or he can pull it up and give the press a 2 day distraction from Plamegate.

We call it “exposing truth”, you call it “look like unthinking fools”, we obviously agree.

I’m looking for O.Dub’s comment coming from the DNC, nope, nothing there. DLC? Nope, nothing there. Liberal pundits? Nope, neither of them either. I guess that means he’s an original thinker! As such, he can’t be GOP.

I don’t personally think this appointment is a distraction, after all the indictments aren’t out yet. He is making his announcement at the nadir of his popularity, 75% surveyed don’t believe him. If anything, he’s strategerily speaking, doing this at the wrong time.

I think some people are confusing “talking points” with “facts.” We state things like “the White House is being uncooperative with the ongoing investigation” and “it appears that the evidence is mounting against Karl Rove.” These facts are responded to with things like “Valerie Plame wasn’t a covert agent!” and “The CIA is overzealous with what it regards as top secret!” and “It was Novak who leaked Plame’s identity to Rove!” See the difference?

Anything ya’ll say about anything can be found all over the lefty blogs, or air america, or more liberal press outlets. Are ya’ll getting faxes from Carville and Gore? This thread started when our host, in a very snide manner, accused the administration of announcing a supreme court nomination to distract people from the Plame vs. Rove fiasco. Thats the issue. And in doing so, he brought himself to the same level as the Clinton haters. Thats not a talking point, its an observation.

When did Bush give a date on which he was going to announce? He repeatedly said he would do it when he was ready, with enough time to have the nominee confirmed before October. With Congress on vacation in August that necessitates a July announcement. So if he announced next week that would be ok, but today is a political distraction?

According to the talking points regurgitated by the leftwingnuts here, Plamegate is among the most serious political scandals of our time such that it would be front and center no matter when Bush announced his choice. Just my “honest opinion.”

The administration suggested it wouldn’t be for awhile longer. This was a sudden alteration in that, prompting comment.

And if you want to give honest opinion, try and do it by not attacking the host, but by stating that you disagree and why, you’ll find you might actually make points that way. Otherwise you just come across as a trolling asshole.
