That the right-wing Weekly Standard has to keep writing articles that smear progressive blogs and deride Dems for using them as an outlet (as opposed to being shut out of the mainstream media unless they knife their side in the back). It’s as if they would prefer us to be quiet little ninnies and run away…
If you read the strip, it’s pretty clear that Trudeau’s message is exactly the opposite as portrayed in the article. He is clearly making a comment on the intolerance of the MSM and its corporatist agenda to competition, which the blogs represent. Also, later in the article Barnett dishonestly smears Robert Byrd by again bringing up his KKK affiliation decades ago without mentioning his complete reversal and numerous apologies.
Barnett has to know what he’s doing and it’s just astounding that this type of hack journalism appeals to anyone except anger-filled narrowminded suckers. Oh, wait, it doesn’t.
Don’t you just hate reporting activities or blogs that smear other blogs. Wonder what “Instacracker” is doing this morning. Anybody?

The author was simply stating a fact and it’s something that you guys cannot see because of your own partisan blindness and that is, that most of the country…hell most of the country’s Democrats don’t support the kind of left wing ideology espoused by the likes of Kos, Atrios and our host. Yet, Democratic politicians are increasingly turning to such blogs for campaign advice.
Howard Dean has fallen into that trap of harping on people most others don’t know about but are major targets for left wing blogs, like Rush Limbaugh. Only those who follow politics as much as we do know anything more about Limbaugh other than his name. Sure, there’s 3-5 mil people a day who listen to his show. All that means is that there’s 270+ millions who don’t. Yet there’s Dean, every other day yapping about Limbaugh like it’s going to stir hundreds of millions to start voting Democratic.
And mjb, give me a break with your apologia for Byrd. Stating a fact about the man is not a “dishonest smear.” George Wallace repudiated his racist past, but I would love to see the reactions of people such as yourself if Instapundit or Powerline, referred to him as an “American Hero.” A ‘hero’ is a title bestowed upon somebody because of their life’s work or because of an extraordinary act or feat, not because he bad mouthed a President you don’t like.
