Sick.
KILMEADE: And he [British Prime Minister Tony Blair] made the statement, clearly shaken, but clearly determined. This is his second address in the last hour. First to the people of London, and now at the G8 summit, where their topic Number 1 –believe it or not– was global warming, the second was African aid. And that was the first time since 9-11 when they should know, and they do know now, that terrorism should be Number 1. But it’s important for them all to be together. I think that works to our advantage, in the Western world’s advantage, for people to experience something like this together, just 500 miles from where the attacks have happened.
Fox News- You die, we spin.
What’s sick is how blatantly misleading the heading is. He is clearly not saying that the bombing “works to our advantage,” but rather the fact that the G-8 leaders were essentially witnesses to the terrorism. Thus working to our advantage is showing them that the first topic on the G-8 agenda should have been terrorism, rather than global warming.
Who would think that lies would come from the New York Times?
@Hedley: You’re kidding, right? This is a good thing how, exactly?
My guess is that people simply hated Fox news for reporting the news from a perspective that was not what they wanted or were used to. Thus, Fox reports are attacked as “lies” in order to support the hatred.
Just my opinion.
Sigh. Compare and contrast:
Fox Anchor: London Bombing Works To Our Advantage
But it s important for them all to be together. I think that works to our advantage, in the Western world s advantage, for people to experience something like this together
If you can’t tell the difference, you might have a great future ahead of you at, say, FoxNews.
grubi: The “good thing” referred to was obviously not the bombing itself, but the fact that the G-8 leaders were in close enough proximity to remind them that perhaps terrorism should have been the first item on their agenda and not global warming.
Chicken or the Egg here – did it start that people just hated Fox news or did it start with Fox spewing lies then people starting to hate them?
Here’s a suggestion for an accurate headline (I guess it will cut down on the OUTRAGE factor, however).
Fox Anchor: It works to our advantage that world leaders were together and close by when this attack occurred!!!!
And you could still follow it with “[s]ick,” I guess. Maybe use an exclamation point.
Funny, Hedley, that’s Instapundit’s views on the New York Times exactly!
The issue, however, is that Bush and Blair said they were “taking the war to the terrrorists” to keep it from coming to us. What does it say when they have brought it to the G8 and the home of the 2012 Olympics?
Well it is great that Terrorism is back on the list – it seems like years since we were actually fighting it…maybe now they will realize that Iraq was the wrong choice…
They did accurately quote him. You simply spun it to mean something else entirely in keeping with the anti-Fox theme.
This post is embarrassingly wrong (review context of quotation for the actual antecedent for “that”). It would do you credit to correct it.
Yeah, how dare they accurately quote Kilmeade!
I guess it’s easier to contemplate your own navel, when it’s yout allies that were attacked…
Check this out — thoroughly.
This is what the al Qaeda maniacs did to our allies, because our allies are friends with Israel.
They didn’t do it because Bush invaded Iraq, they didn’t do it to drive up the price of oil, they didn’t do it as vengeance for the Crusades, and they didn’t do it because Arabs are stereotyped as bad guys on TV since 9/11 (actually, that stereotype began with the Munich Olympics in 1972, when television writers who were being paid the paltry sum $20000 to $25000 per week, didn’t have the imagination to create non -Italian criminals, so they jumped at the chance to portray Arabs as bad guys. When it was reaized that some people might think they were Joooos, the writers switched the nationalities to Russian, after the fall of the Soviet Union. Note to Hollywood: Catholics are still fair game.)
So, take a deep breath, and repeat after me: “Not all the bad things in the world are Bush’s fault”
“Terrorism should be Number 1″ ?
Kilmeade should look at the current resources ( financial, human, technological, intelligence, and political ) currently devoted to combatting ‘Terrorism’ and compare that with the resources ( financial, human, technological, intelligence, and political ) currently devoted to combatting Global Warming or Feeding the Starving in Africa. The disparity is quite large.
With so many resources so clearly devoted to the prosecution of the ‘War on Terror’ I don’t think a G-8 summit whose topic is addressing the OTHER present and future threats to certain regions ( Africa ) or the planet in general ( Global Warming ) constitute a demotion of priority for the ‘War on Terror’. ( If that was his point )
One question….?
Where was all this anger and sadness when it was Spain?
Could it be that they have BROWNER SKIN?
Just Asking……..
Hedley, I got your answer to the Fox News question.
Fox News is nothing more than the American Ostankino, the official propaganda organ of the government. It’s no coincidence that studies have shown people who get their news exclusively from the government channel are the most misinformed of all. That’s why all free-thinkers despise it.
And Frank, “They didn’t do it because Bush invaded Iraq..” what? You know that hillbilly herion will kill you, right? Not to mention it will make your teeth fall out first.
As far as the bad things in the world that are Bush’s fault, war without end, pro-torture America and global warming are enough for me. What does it take for you? Sex with an intern, maybe?

Hubris, you should know better than to try to use logic with somebody who did not employ same when arrving at their conclusion.
Being honest would have gotten in his way of a pot shot at Fox, which he is paid to do by the paragon of integrity, Mr. Brock.
O Dub’s got it right that Kilmeade’s meanderings are “sick.” But not just for the “Western advantage” statement.
I think everyone here is missing the forest for the trees. Indeed, Hubris’ semantic hair-splitting is missing the forest for some speck of dust. If I suddenly found myself aligned with JackassDumb and Fanfic Frank, I’d seriously have to start questioning my sensibilities.
If asking that the guy be criticized on the basis of what he actually said is semantic hair-splitting, then I guess I’m a semantic hair-splitter.
But then, I shouldn’t miss the misrepresentation forest for the actual trees, should I?
Live the outrage, man.
