Dum-Dum

Am I being too cynical in noting that I’m not surprised that they picked a pretend district attorney to help pick out the next supreme court justice?

I guess we can forever rule out James Carville making a meaningful political contribution for the rest of time, since he starred in K Street

Oliver, is there a specific reason that you often stick your foot in your mouth?

Fred Thompson, aside from serving as a well respected (on both sides) United States Senator for 8 years, was an Assistant US attorney four 4 years. He also served as co-chief counsel to the Senate Watergate Committee. He successfully ran Howard Baker’s 1972 Senate campaign and took on Governor Ray Blanton and toppled him when he was busy pardoning double murderers for payoffs.

The guy has legal knowledge, political know-how and ties to the Senate. Gee freaking whiz. Why on earth would they want a guy like that helping to get a Supreme Court nominee through the process?

Jay, I’m well aware Fred Thompson was a Nixon defender and that he knows his legal stuff. I just think its silly to have Law and Order guy picking the next Supreme. Lighten up.

Lets not forget he commanded an aircraft carrier also.

Fred is clearly qualified and clearly PR.

Bush/Cheney ‘political capital’ has been spent.
Rove/Delay seem to be under investigation
Frist is out dut to idiocy and idealogical grandstanding.

These are the big voices. I’m not sure they are the best ‘face men’ for the upcoming ‘battle’.

Best thing to due is grab a qualified GOP loyalist ( with a face everyone trusts ).

Oliver, where in ANY press report does it say FDT is “picking” the nominee?!?

    Dugger,
    That quote is sweet!

Who said he was a Nixon defender? In fact, it was Thompson that gave the line, “What did President Nixon know and when did he know it?” to Howard Baker and he used it.

I just think its silly to have Law and Order guy picking the next Supreme.

He’s not “picking” the next Supreme. He’s going to bring the nominee through the confirmation process which is sure to be a smear filled festival.

I notice that you refuse to post my previous comments concerning your ignorance about Thompson and your general lack of knowledge concerning most things you talk about. There was no cursing or name calling in my comments, you just dislike dissent.

There’s that old liberal tolerance for ya…
    it figures.

It seems like one that operates a political blog would at least know the fundamentals of a person’s background before he mocks him.

By the way, I suspect that Sen. Thompson was rather surprised to learn that Oliver has granted him the power to select the next Supreme Court justice.
