The way Batman learns to fight is a bit formulaic, and I could have done without the the pseudo - philosophical chit - chat.

Cooler alternative: go the (Antonio Banderas - Anthony Hopkins) Zorro route, and make Michael Caine retired SAS with all kinds of connections so Batman can get martial arts trining from "Alfred's" buddies.

That's cool. I've always been a fan of Christian Bale, too. That sci-fi flick he made a couple of years ago, "Equilibrium," was actually pretty good, despite having a rather lousy script and a cookie-cutter "dystopian future" plot. Good to see he's finally getting reasonably respectable roles.

I would go so far as to say it is easily the best Batman movie, and among the very best comic superhero movies. The performances were excellent. Even Katie Holmes' performance wasn't that bad; to be fair, she didn't have much to work with. Her part was basically a throwaway, a token female presence to keep the movie from turning into a complete sausage festival. The gadgets were terrific, especially the Batmobile. There were some plot holes, but nothing that strained my belief suspension muscles. The mood and tone were perfect. My only beef is with the editing, especially in the fight scenes - it wasn't bad enough to ruin the movie, but it was bad enough to distract from it. But other than that, it's basically the Batman movie I've been waiting for since they started making Batman movies.

Pretty much everyone who's seen it has says it's one of the best -- if not THE best -- Batman movie (certainly has to beat the last two...)

I'm still looking forward to seeing it, myself. Glad there's one more voice in the "yea" category.
