Radical domestic terrorist Randall Terry is running to represent Jacksonville in the state legislature of Florida.
The contest is already centering itself as a core fight over Republicanism. King is a social moderate and fiscal conservative who has sometimes clashed with the right-wing elements of the party. Terry says the district has no room for moderation and that he can better represent Republican principles.
Some of us would say a radical anti-choice loon perfectly reflects the values of the national Republican party, especially one like Terry who has the congressional Republicans at his beck and call. (via August)

Oliver,
The problem you have is that you use similar harsh language for moderates like Bush, Romney etc – so when you criticize the likes of Terry, a real fever swamper, you are correct but it means nothing. You have cried “wolf” way too many times.

Ralph Reed.
Wait. Terry is running in Florida?
Who did I just hear was running for Lt. Gov. in Georgia?
Bush is moderate? He’s a puppet of the extreme religious right.
Bush is a moderate? A moderate what?
Moderate Drunk?
Moderate Coke Head?
Moderate Village Idiot?
Because in terms of politics he’s all over the place, but his core support is radical. Since Bush and his administration have regularly attacked the real moderates within the Republican party, there is just no way he falls under that catagory. He’s an extreme capitalist, if you are looking for easy descriptions.
Reed. Terry.
Terry. Reed.
Is there someplace I can buy a program?
Bush is a moderate?
Next thing you’ll tell me Tom DeLay is right in the mainstream.
Terry will lose badly.
End of story.
Sorry to spoil your fun.
Bush? A puppet of the extreme religious right? Hey, just cause the man abruptly ended vacation to sign insanely-overreaching, emergency Terri Schiavo legislation, and waited a few days to even address the fact that a tsunami killed 150,000 doesnt make him a puppet. Pa-leeze!
Binky and Oliver,
The problem is that your rhetoric makes no qualifying distinction between Bush and Terry. I know its all about hating Republicans with you guys, but there is a huge difference between these two and these two types of individuals. How would it be if we used the same language to describe Andrew McCrae and John Kerry – both leftists, but way different. It would be stupid and unfair. Guess what?

Randall Terry might just win in Jacksonville, then again he might not. If he does, we’d have another David Duke on our hands, and we all know how that turned out!
As for Ralph Reed, he proved himself a worthy and successful political figure during his term as chairman of the Georgia GOP, where he engineered the Republican Revolution of 2002 in the Peach State – two years earlier than I expected. Republicans solidified their gains in 2004, due in part to the aftereffects of Reed’s handiwork.
Fact is, many of Reed’s methods deployed in Georgia were duplicated across the country in 2004, with much success for Bush and the GOP.
